The Delhi airport will witness a temporary halt in flight arrivals and departures from 10:20 am to 12:45 pm every day until January 26 in connection with Republic Day preparations and celebrations.
The Airports Authority of India (AAI) issued a revised Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) introducing the updated restrictions on Friday. Previously, these restrictions only applied to non-scheduled flights with specific exemptions.

During the period from January 19 to 26, flights will not be permitted to arrive or depart from Delhi airport between 10:20 am to 12:45 pm, as confirmed by an official on Friday. NOTAM is a notice providing essential information to personnel involved in flight operations.

Airspace constraints in the national capital will be enforced from January 19 to January 29, encompassing Republic Day preparations and celebrations. Non-scheduled flights of scheduled airlines and chartered flights will be restricted from landing or taking off between 10 am to 1:15 pm during January 19-25. These restrictions will be extended from 6 am to 9 pm from January 26 to 29, according to the NOTAM issued earlier in the week.

It's important to note that the NOTAM will not impact the operations of the Indian Air Force (IAF), Border Security Force (BSF), Army aviation helicopters, as well as state-owned aircraft/helicopters flying with the Governor/Chief Minister of a state. The Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) in Delhi, the country's largest airport, handles approximately 1,300 flights daily.

On January 26, 2024, India will commemorate its 75th Republic Day, marking the historic moment when the country completed its transition to becoming an independent republic with the enactment of the Constitution. The chief guest for this significant occasion will be French President Emmanuel Macron.
