The Kuala Gandah national elephant conservation and rehabilitation center is located about 90 minutes outside of Kuala Lumpur and visitors can take a day trip here to experience bathing and feeding the rescued elephants from around Malaysia. A mini conservation center showcases exhibits and a conservation video is screened for visitors to learn and understand the role of this conservation center.

Natural Wonder

Batu Caves is the most visited cave in Malaysia where visitors get to climb up 272 steps that leads into a massive and beautiful cave temple. There is also an interesting art cave where vivid colored statues of Hindu gods and deities are on display.

National Park

The Bukit Nanas Forest Reserve sits right in the middle of Kuala Lumpur city and covers an area of 11 hectares. This is also the only remaining tropical rainforest in Kuala Lumpur which was gazetted in 1906, and was recently opened to visitors after some major upgrades and renovations. There are a couple of trails which are child-friendly and stretch to around 350 meters long. A newly opened canopy treetop walkway is not to be missed here.

Archaeological Site

Take a trip to the national museum of Malaysia called Muzium Negara, and located just a minute's walk from KL Sentral in Kuala Lumpur. Some of the best archaeological information on Malaysia can be found here. There is an indoor museum and also an outdoor museum located here and there are free guided tours in all languages at 10 a.m. daily.

Cultural Experience

The Kuala Lumpur Craft Complex is the perfect place to experience authentic Malaysian craft and culture. A little craft village allows visitors to participate in the local Malaysian art of batik painting, wood carving and even traditional jewelry making. An area called the Artists' Colony showcases local Malaysian works of art, where some of them are for sale.

Best Day Trip

One of the best day trips out of Kuala Lumpur would be to Resorts World Genting, which is located on a mountain 6,000 feet above sea level. The cooling mountain atmosphere combined with an indoor theme park, the only casino in the country, and a massive entertainment city makes this place favorable for those wanting to see a different side of Malaysia.

Off the Beaten Path

"Plane in the City" is a new and unique gastronomical attraction that was launched in April 2018. Visitors can make an online booking to have dinner inside an actual Boeing 737 aircraft that is parked in the middle of Kuala Lumpur city. The beauty about this is that you can choose to dine in economy, business or first class, complete with a cockpit visit and a wing walk experience. Currently, only dinner reservations are accepted.

Most Iconic Place

The Petronas Twin Towers are currently the tallest twin towers in the world and are the national icon of Malaysia. Located in the Kuala Lumpur City Center, there is a huge park, an aquarium and a lifestyle shopping mall located at the foot of the twin towers, likely making this the most visited place in Kuala Lumpur.

Late Night

When the sun sets, Changkat Bukit Bintang is the place to explore as you will encounter a myriad of bars, clubs, restaurants and even coffee joints that make up Kuala Lumpur's unique nightlife. Clubbers should head over to TREC Kuala Lumpur which boasts the best clubs, live music and lifestyle bars that operate until the wee hours of the morning.

Neighborhood to Explore

Kampung Bharu is a traditional Malay village in the heart of Kuala Lumpur and worth exploring on foot in the day or night. At selected spots, you can photograph an old traditional Malay wooden house in the foreground against Kuala Lumpur's skyline, which includes the majestic Petronas Twin Towers. Kampung Bharu is also well known for their local Nasi Lemak which is a must try for foodies.
