The photo of Kate and William used in the edit was first posted by UK tabloid The Sun, which claimed that the Prince and Princess of Wales made a stop at a farm shop near their Adelaide Cottage residence. While sharing the edited photo, the Irish Airport cheekily wrote, “Great to see passengers looking so happy and relaxed this morning,” referring to the alleged eyewitness accounts which described Kate Middleton as “happy, relaxed and healthy”.
The Dublin Airport’s post went viral as it gathered over 90,000 likes since it was posted on March 19. An X user described this post as “genius marketing”. Many people lauded the Dublin Airport for utilising the buzz around Kate Middleton’s whereabouts to increase their social media engagement, while some thought that it was done in poor taste.

Last week, Dublin Airport threw shade at Kate Middleton, following the global retraction of her Mother’s Day photo due to editing allegations, by sharing a badly edited photo of actor Cillian Murphy getting down from a plane. The Dublin Airport captioned the photo, “Our new social media intern Kate did a great job capturing Cillian Murphy’s return to Dublin Airport this morning after his Oscars success.” This post also raked in over 27,000 likes.
