LANSING — All-State basketball honors are typically a recognition players work their whole career to achieve.

For Charlevoix senior Evan Solomon, Michigan Associated Press All-State honors have been his career with the Rayder varsity boys basketball team.

After first earning AP recognition during his sophomore campaign three years ago, Solomon has kept defenses on edge and state writers on notice since, culminating with a Michigan AP Division 3 All-State first team selection Tuesday.

Johannesburg-Lewiston guard Preston Marlatt averaged over 20 points a night and earned second team AP All-State.

Solomon was the lone Division 3 athlete out of Northern Michigan to be selected to the first team, though wasn’t the only athlete within D3 earning AP All-State Tuesday.

Johannesburg-Lewiston senior Preston Marlatt was named to the second team and Charlevoix’s Caleb Stuck, as well as East Jordan’s Preston Malpass and Mason Malpass were named honorable mention.

Others from around Northern Michigan were also named to the second team and honorable mention list.

Solomon closed out the year averaging 19.8 points, 5.2 rebounds and 2.6 assists a game, with the honor coming as a third straight all-state recognition.

For Marlatt on the second team, the season came with leading the Cardinals in scoring and rebounding. He averaged 23.5 points a game, as well as 7.0 rebounds.

Charlevoix's Caleb Stuck closes up his career with the Rayders with AP All-State honors.

Within honorable mention, Stuck closed out another strong season running the Charlevoix offense, leading the team in rebounding as a guard. Stuck averaged 12.1 points, 10.2 rebounds, 3.0 steals and 2.4 assists for the season.

East Jordan put together a strong campaign behind Preston and Mason Malpass, with it coming as a second straight AP All-State honor for Preston in the post.

Preston, only a sophomore, averaged 16 points, 9.4 rebounds and 2.0 blocks a game, while Mason Malpass, a senior, averaged 10 points, 5.3 rebounds and 3.4 assists.

Also on the second team out of Northern Michigan was Traverse City St. Francis junior Wyatt Nausadis, after averaging 18.5 points for the season.

Others out of Northern Michigan within the honorable mention category were also: Joshua Lavely, Elk Rapids; Mason Travis, Elk Rapids; Adam Gerberding, Traverse City St. Francis; Oumar Sy, Mancelona; Quinn Zickert, Benzie Central; Nate Childers, Benzie Central; Jaxon Childers, Benzie Central; Dylan Cragg, Grayling; Caleb Caul, Grayling; and Luke Hazelton, Glen Lake.

East Jordan senior Mason Malpass did a bit of everything for the Red Devils and earned AP honorable mention recognition.

The complete first team included: Carmelo Harris (POY), Flint Beecher; Tyler DeGroote, Schoolcraft; Malik Olafioye, Ecorse; Kaden Johnson, Hartford; Ty Ryske, Schoolcraft; Evan Solomon, Charlevoix; Daquan Coleman, Burton Bendle; Aidan Bellisle, Menominee; Jamison Eklund, Pewamo-Westphalia; and Robert Lee, Flint Beecher.
