CONCORD, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — How does $62 sound for a non-stop flight from the Queen City to southern New England? If it sounds enticing, you’re in luck. An ultra-low-cost airline just announced service from Concord to New Haven.

“It’s time to say Hello to Avelo”, announced airline spokesperson Trevor Yealy Tuesday, launching the first and only airline offering exclusive non-stop service between the Queen City and southern Connecticut.

The service is between Concord-Padgett Regional and Tweed-New Haven Airport.

Officials advertise Avelo as America’s most convenient airline, utilizing small hometown easy-to-use airports like Concord.

Avelo has flown more than 4 million customers on over 30,000 flights since 2012.

Since taking off in 2021, Avelo has flown more than 4 million customers on over 30,000 flights. The airline flies Boeing next next-generation 737 jets, serving 47 destinations in 23 states and Puerto Rico.

The airline now adds Concord Regional to its list, joining Allegiant Airlines which has offered budget flights to Florida for over a decade. The airport just celebrated its 10-year anniversary of commercial airline service.

Concord officials said Avelo’s new non-stop flights offer a welcome gateway to New York and southern New England.

Concord-Padgett Regional is just around the corner from the bustling Concord Mills area. It is sometimes referred to as NASCAR’s airport, due to multiple race teams basing their fleets at the airport. It is one of 827 regional airports in the U.S. and 22 in North Carolina.

It is also known as a “reliever” airport because it helps relieve the large volume of air traffic heading into our nation’s busiest airports like Charlotte Douglas. Regional airports support economies by connecting communities with statewide and interstate markets.

While airports like Concord relieve air traffic into large airports, they also offer relief to anxious flyers by diminishing big airports’ hectic travel stress with their hometown atmosphere.

Easy in, easy out. You can park directly in front of the terminal, just steps away from the airline check-in and screening lanes. No long TSA lines. A breeze. That’s the beauty of a small regional airport, according to Dirk Vanderleest, City of Concord Aviation Director.

Avelo Airlines starts service on May 2, with flights departing on Thursdays and Sundays from Concord-Padgett.
