Rare original sketch by Apollo 11 moonwalker Buzz Aldrin exploring new ideas and the potential for growth in starcraft boosters. One page, on lined paper, in the hand of Bizz Aldrin with his signed name and phone number in the lower right corner, “Dr. Buzz Aldrin 208-622-3883.” Organized in a graph-like format with horizontal axis “Grow in Potential” data and vertical axis “Good Ideas” data, the diagram contains sketches of spacecraft like “Zenit, 2 & 3 stages, fully expendable” “Starcraft Booster, Reusable Zenit 1st stage” and “Twin Star Booster” Aldrin makes note of “Next generation flyback 1st stage” and “Space Shuttle upgrades” and, in the upper right, draws arrows pointing to “Moon” “Cyclers” and “Mars” with what appears to be a small capsule sketch in the corner. In near fine condition.

American engineer and astronaut Buzz Aldrin made three spacewalks as pilot of the 1966 Gemini 12 mission, and as the lunar module pilot on the 1969 Apollo 11 mission, he and mission commander Neil Armstrong were the first two humans to land on the Moon. Upon leaving NASA in 1971, Aldrin became Commandant of the U.S. Air Force Test Pilot School. He retired from the Air Force in 1972, after 21 years of service. He has been accorded numerous honors, including the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 1969, and is listed in several Halls of Fame.
