We exceed the 75% progress mark on the new runway of Jorge Chávez Airport, Lima

The consortium led by Sacyr finishes paving the runway and heads straight to the final stretch of the project

We have achieved 76% progress on the construction of the second runway of the expansion of Jorge Chavez International Airport (Lima, Peru), for our client, Lima Airport Partners (LAP). Sacyr is oversees the development of this 3,480 m infrastructure, through the Inti Punku consortium, in partnership with Cumbra.

Sacyr has achieved a new project milestone by finishing the paving of the runway, with 100,000 tons of asphalt.

Other achievements in the project are the installation of lighting beacons and the rehabilitation and delivery of five buildings for Corpac. This project also includes the installation of other improvements, such as navigational aids, medium-voltage systems, and control and surveillance equipment. Construction for this project began in September 2020, and advances at a good pace for its entry into operation in late 2022.

Maintaining the highest safety standards is fundamental to Sacyr, and thus, the Lima Airport development has followed a strict screening, control and prevention Covid-19 protocol.

Additionally, LAP has recognized the project’s Safety and Health at Work area for achieving three million man-hours without any lost time incidents.

Inti Punku is also the awardee of the contract for the new passenger terminal of Jorge Chávez Airport, which is being built at the same time as the runway. This is Sacyr’s third airport contract in Peru.
