LOCAL TRAFFIC REGULATIONS

FLIGHT PROCEDURES
1. ATC TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT SPEED
When not on a SID or STAR (including vectoring) - ACFT ARR or DEP PF via Class C
airspace must not exceed 250KT IAS when BLW 10,000FT AMSL. Advise ATC if a higher
speed is operationally required.
Note: Pilots must also comply with Class D airspace speed limits. Cancellation of ATC
traffic management speeds does not cancel Class D airspace speed limits.
2. CAUTION: Fast moving, heavy ACFT operate in close proximity to the Parafield CTR in
both the Adelaide CTR and Edinburgh Military CTR. Pilots of all ACFT must exercise
vigilance to avoid unauthorised entry unless specifically cleared to enter these portions of
airspace.
2.1 When HEL circuit OPS are included on the ATIS, fixed wing ACFT must extend at least
1NM FM the upwind THR FM the nominated RWY before turning crosswind, or join final
outside 1NM FM the THR of the nominated RWY, unless otherwise advised by ATC.
3. DEPARTURES VFR HJ:
a. For entry into ADJ CTA or Military Restricted Area plan via SKI or SUB.
b. For transit of Adelaide CTR where an alternative route is not available, plan COT FM
OHB to PNL or via HOPE VALLEY VFR ROUTE.
c. For landing at Adelaide, ACFT not involved in AWK/training may plan via PAL.
4. ARRIVALS VFR HJ:
a. From ADJ CTA or Military Restricted Area, plan via OHB or DMW.
b. From transit of Adelaide CTR where an alternative route is not available, plan COT PNL
to OHB or via HOPE VALLEY VFR ROUTE.
5. AWK TRNG DEPARTURE SLOT
5.1 AWK TRNG flights planning to enter or over-fly AD CTR must book a DEP SLOT except
when:
a. Planning to use SKI DEP, SUB DEP or RWY 03 SID Radar or
b. VMC does not exist in the PF CTR
Bookings can be made by phoning Adelaide TCU on 03 9235 2012 prior to flight planning.
6. PF VOR and NDB PROC not AVBL for training OPS. Other OPS in IMC permitted.
7. IFR OPERATIONS IN VMC: Pilots electing to commence or terminate an IFR flight under
the VFR should communicate such intention at the earliest possible time to ensure their
arrival or departure is processed efficiently.

9. LOW VISIBILITY OPERATIONS
9.1 Low visibility operations NOT AVBL. RWY light spacing greater than 60M.
10. DEPARTURES
10.1 REQ AWY CLR from Parafield Ground 119.9 for:
a. VFR HN and IFR flights into ADJ Class C and MIL Restricted Area R265A;
b. VFR flights into AD CTR or terminating in EDN CTR.
10.2 Flights intending to enter ADJ Class C airspace, R255 or R265A via SUB or SKI REQ SSR
code from Parafield Ground on 119.9. Monitor Adelaide Centre on 130.45 passing SUB or
SKI. Squawk assigned SSR code and REQ AWY CLR from Adelaide Approach on
frequency:
a. 128.6 approaching Edinburgh Restricted Areas.
b. 118.2 approaching Class C airspace east of YPAD SFL.
c. 124.2 approaching Class C airspace on or west of YPAD SFL.

10.3 Pilots intending to operate in the training areas shall specify the WESTERN TRAINING
AREA (D220/D280) with TAXI call.
10.4 ACFT DEP to the WESTERN Training Area shall conduct a SKI DEP.
10.5 Pilots not departing directly into CTA shall include 'For (SUB/SKI) Departure' with the
Ready Call.
10.6 DEP in accordance with the following:
a. SKI DEPARTURE Climb to and maintain 1,000FT AMSL to SKI (Remain outside Class
C airspace).
(i) RWY 21R - FM right crosswind track south of the Bolivar Strobe to SKI - remaining
clear of ED CTR.
(ii) RWY 03L - FM left crosswind track south of the Bolivar Strobe to SKI - remaining
clear of ED CTR.
(iii) RWY 26R - FM upwind track south of the Bolivar Strobe to SKI - remaining clear of
ED CTR.
(iv) RWY 08L - FM left downwind track south of the Bolivar Strobe to SKI - remaining
clear of ED CTR.
DEP from other RWYs follow ATC instructions.
Unless otherwise advised, pilots should automatically change to 130.45 (Adelaide Centre)
at SKI.
b. SUB DEPARTURE (Remain outside Class C airspace).
(i) RWY 21L - Climb to 1,000FT AMSL. FM left downwind track to SUB - remaining
clear of AD CTR. Continue climbing to 1,500FT AMSL when east of PF and clear of
TFC.
(ii) RWY 03R - Climb to 1,500FT AMSL. FM upwind track to SUB.
(iii) RWY 26R - Climb to 1,000FT AMSL. FM right crosswind track to SUB - remaining
clear of ED CTR. Continue climbing to 1,500FT AMSL when north of PF and clear
of TFC.
(iv) RWY 08L - Climb to 1,000FT AMSL. FM left crosswind track to SUB - remaining
clear of ED CTR. Continue climbing to 1,500FT AMSL when north of PF and clear
of TFC.
DEP from other RWYs follow ATC instructions.
Unless otherwise advised, pilots should automatically change to 130.45 (Adelaide Centre)
at SUB.
10.7 ROUTES:
a. ACFT DEP to E into Class G airspace TR via the Sub Station (SUB) and then advised
to TR via South Para Reservoir (SPR) and remain clear of the WRR - DMW TR to avoid
ARR ACFT.
b. ACFT DEP to NW into Class G airspace TR via St Kilda (SKI) S of BOLIVAR strobe
light (Caution: May be opposite direction of HEL OPS at A005).
c. ACFT DEP into the vicinity of EDN outside EDN TWR HR TR via BOLIVAR strobe light.
CAUTION: BOLIVAR strobe light is in close proximity to the western EDN CCT.
11. ARRIVALS
11.1 ROUTES:
ARR VFR ACFT should track via and report:
a. FM NW via Class G airspace: Report OHB and track S of BOLIVAR strobe light.
b. FM NE via Class G airspace: Should track via WRR then track via and report at DMW.
c. HEL with TAS not more than 90KT FM NE via Class G airspace: May track to and
report at a point 0.5NM SE of the DMW (report SE abeam the DMW).
d. FM the vicinity of EDN CTR outside EDN TWR HR: EDN - PF.
ACFT should remain clear of the SUB - SPR TR to avoid DEP ACFT.
CAUTION: West of DMW - ACFT may be DEP via the SUB.
e. ACFT ARR FM the vicinity of EDN CTR outside EDN TWR HR shall track via and
report at EDN.
11.2 ALTITUDE:
a. ALT: 1,500 FT.
b. Helicopters arriving from the NW may TR via SKI S of Bolivar strobe at 500FT.

12. CIRCUIT PROCEDURES


12.1 Circuit ALT: 1,000FT.
12.2 Full stop landing followed by further circuits: Pilots shall advise ATC (with the downwind full
stop call) intention to conduct further CCTS.
12.3 ATC will consider nominating an alternative RWY when the crosswind on RWY 03/21
exceeds 10 KT.
12.4 Asymmetric training in multi engine ACFT only AVBL on RWY 03/21.
12.5 Simulated ENG failure in single ENG ACFT after TKOF not permitted.
12.6 CAUTION: Helicopter CCTS are conducted WI the fixed wing circuit.
12.7 Circuit Directions during TWR HR:
(i) RWY 03R HJ - right: HN - not AVBL.
(ii) RWY 03L HJ - left: HN - left.
(iii) RWY 21R HJ - right: HN - right.
(iv) RWY 21L HJ - left: HN - not AVBL.
(v) RWY 08R HJ - right: HN - not AVBL.
(vi) RWY 08L HJ - left: HN - not AVBL.
(vii) RWY 26R HJ - right: HN - not AVBL.
(viii)RWY 26L HJ - left: HN - not AVBL.
13. HELICOPTER OPERATIONS
13.1 Fixed wing CTR departures & entry procedures, apply.
13.2 Pilots shall nominate the HLS they wish to use on initial CTC with Parafield TWR or
Ground.
13.3 HLS DEP and ARR must be parallel to the duty RWY unless otherwise specified by ATC.
13.4 Pilots shall advise completion of OPS on TWR FREQ when vacating the Western HLS (i.e.
Pad West).
13.5 ARR Pad East: Minimum delay on Pad when duty RWY 03/21 CTC GND after vacating.
13.6 Southern grass is the area contained by a line 60M west of TWY B and 60M south of RWY
08R/26L, flight strip extended to the perimeter fence to the south and west (caution needs
to be exercised due NDB hut and MET compound).
13.7 CIRCUITS:
a. CCT ALT: 800FT.
b. Fixed wing CCT direction applies.
c. CCTS must be conducted WI the fixed wing CCT.
d. For RWY 03/21 the HEL CCT shall be a straight line FM the corner of Cross Keys and
Frost Roads, south to Elder Smith Road, west to the Salisbury HWY, north along
Salisbury HWY to Spains Rd, and east to corner of Cross Keys and Frost Roads.

13.8 AUTO-ROTATIONS:
a. Initial departure and subsequent turns shall be made in the nominated circuit direction.
b. Prior to commencement, pilots shall notify ATC of the intent to conduct an auto-rotation.
c. After commencement, orbits and teardrop turns, inclusive of contra direction turns, are
permitted without the approval of ATC.
d. Helicopters must remain clear of other circuit traffic.
14. COMMUNICATION FAILURE
a. Carry out Communication Failure procedures in EMERG.
b. TR via the appropriate VFR approach point.
c. Enter Parafield CTR at 1,500FT and TR to overhead the aerodrome at that altitude.
d. Ascertain landing direction and join the appropriate circuit for the runway selected.
e. The preferred runway for landing should be:
The runway nominated in the joining or sequencing instruction, or
The arrivals / departure runway nominated on the ATIS (subject to direction of arrival).
f. When ready, descend to circuit altitude remaining clear of the other circuit.
g. Maintain separation from other aircraft.
h. Proceed with normal circuit and landing.
i. Watch for light signals from the TWR.
15. AEROBATIC OPERATIONS
For Aerobatic Flights WI 20NM Adelaide, refer Adelaide ERSA entry 'LOCAL TRAFFIC
REGULATIONS'.
CTAF - AFRU 118.7
1. Outside TWR HR.
2. RWYs AVBL: RWY 03L/21R H24. RWY 08R/26L HJ only.
3. RWY 08R/21R - Right Hand CCTs.
4. RWY NOT AVBL: RWY 08L/26R & 03R/21L.
5. ACFT DEP for Class C airspace CTC Adelaide Centre on 130.45 on taxi REQ transponder
code, and REQ AWY CLR at the holding point when ready.
6. ACFT DEP into the vicinity of EDN outside TWR HR shall TR via BOLIVAR strobe light.
CAUTION: BOLIVAR strobe light is in close proximity to the western EDN CCT.
7. ACFT ARR FM the vicinity of EDN CTR outside EDN TWR HR shall TR EDN - PF.
8. IFR ACFT shall cancel SARWATCH with Adelaide Centre 130.45 after LDG.
9. A MAX of 5 ACFT are permitted in the circuit at any one time outside TWR HR.
NOISE ABATEMENT PROCEDURES
1. Circuit training is permitted only BTN the FLW HR:
a. MON-FRI 2130-1330 UTC (HDS 2030-1230 UTC) - 0700-2300 LMT.
b. SAT 2130-1130 UTC (HDS 2030-1030 UTC) - 0700-2100 LMT.
c. SUN 2300-1130 UTC (HDS 2200-1030 UTC) - 0830-2100 LMT.
d. Christmas Day - No circuit training.
e. New Years Day - No circuit training.
f. ANZAC Day - 2330-1330 UTC - 0900-2300 LMT.
2. Outside TWR HR, preferred RWY, 03L/21R.
3. Circuit Training Operations HN:
a. RWY 03L: Left Hand CCTS.
b. RWY 21R: Right Hand CCTS.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
1. Bird hazard exists WI circuits and environs.
2. Multiple power stations near the container terminal to the NW of Torrens Island emits a
continuous plume of high temperature and high velocity gas. Remain clear at all times.
