The Swedish Civil contingencies Agency (MSB) is the sending authority for public warning
alerts called “Important Public Announcements” or IPA’s (VMA in Swedish). Broadcast
through multiple channels including the Krisisinformation.se website, Location-based SMS
to mobile phones, radio, tv, app, social media, voice to landline and sirens.
SOS Alarm operates the 112-emergency number in Sweden and is the sending authority
for issuing all location-based SMS on behalf of MSB.
Since 2013, SOS Alarm has used Everbridge Location-Based SMS technology which is
deployed within all 4 mobile operators in Sweden allowing for both national and localized
public warnings.

Ministry of Civil Protection.
Critical events are common in Iceland with many active volcanoes,
geothermal activity and rapidly changing weather conditions.
Everbridge Public Warning Centre is used to alert Iceland’s resident
population and millions of annual visitors in their native language.
Everbridge Location-Based SMS alerts are sent to all cell phones
within the hazardous area. The same system allows emergency
responders to engage in two-way communication with people to check
on their safety.
COVID-19 alerts have been sent by SMS to communicate trusted
official information and instructions in native language.

December 2020: In partnership with Mavenir, Everbridge One2Many Cell Broadcast was
selected as the technology component to power the national public warning system for the
UK.
Everbridge Cell Broadcast technology will be implemented within three of the four mobile
operators in the UK: Three, O2 Teléfonica and BT/EE.
The UK national public warning system will be operated by Government Digital Services
through the Department of Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) within the Cabinet Office.
The system is planned for implementation and testing throughout 2021 to meet the 2022
deadline to comply with EU Directive Article 110.
