7. Sizing the Opportunity
▪ RFID and smart cards are quickly turning into preferential technologies in
Brazil for the identification and tracking of people, animals and objects.
▪ Several Brazilian government programs can benefit from electronic identification
technologies:
▪ RIC – citizen ID
▪ SINIAV – vehicle ID and tracking
▪ SISBOV – cattle tracking
▪ etc.

15. Question
How to make International Cooperation possible?
Even inside Brazil we have a misunderstanding of
“collaboration” we have good receptivity in some academic
areas and R&D Institutes but some cold reactions from industry
and authorities.
● We have been proposing:
International seminaries in Brazil
Brazilian participation in Standards’ Commitees
Joint projects with other countries

16. What to do for International Collaboration?
Suggestion
Create a strong motivation
It’s important to create a strong motivation to reach results.
Might be some type of prize for the best development?
Some type of race for the first to get a solution?
How to establish a goal?
One idea is to use the Pasteur Quadrant to find a “goal” that is
user oriented and need both basic and applied research
