The Tragedy of the Commons and Collective Action Essay
The tragedy of the commons and the problem of collective action are two key concepts in the world of
political science. They act under the assumption that man is a rational being who will act in his own
self interest. Humanity id broadly diverse meaning that each individual has their own ideas as to how
society should run and how people should live.(heywood) This inevitably results in disagreement and
this is where politics steps in. Aristotle described politics as the master science , the activity through
which human beings attempt to improve their lives and create the Good Society. Through the tragedy
of the commons and the problem of collective action we can see how politics is essentially the search
for conflict resolution ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However Mancur Olson (cite) states in his book that rational self interested individuals will not act to
achieve their common or group interests. Coercion or other incentives are needed for this to occur.
Communication can be used as moral suasion (ostrom) This became known as the zero contribution
thesis . A social dilemma is when individuals choose actions that will affect others as well as
themselves. The individual will aim to benefit themselves short term which generally results in a
lower joint outcome. If the individuals acted collectively they would achieve a better optimal outcome
than the one they would achieve on their own. These social dilemmas have been characterised in game
theory by the prisoners dilemma. They will achieve the Nash equilibrium which is lower than the
socially desirable outcome. This is the problem of collective action. This is not to say that forms of
collective action cannot be seen in everyday world. Mobs, gangs, cartels, neighbourhood associations,
charities and voting are all forms of collective action. (ostrom) These social dilemmas are related to
common pool resources. The problem of free riding can be an issue. . There has to be governance of
common pool resources. If, for example collective action was man s natural instinct then

Trans-Theoretical Model Of Motivation In Sport
The term motivation is critical in improving someone s health and wellbeing because motivation is the
reason why someone would take part in sports or exercise. There are many models of motivation and
behavioural change but we will focus on one called Trans theoretical model. The model s main focus
is to explain the processes that might lead a person to exercise. The TM has five stages that a person
goes through.
The first stage pre contemplation the person is not keen to participate in physical activity. So
individuals at this stage are not likely to take on healthy behaviours within the next six months.
Individuals at this stage are expectant to think about the positive and negative of their recent
behaviour and why employing in more healthy ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

motivation to exercise. Before we can change her lack of motivation to exercise we first need to assist
Mary understand and build her self esteem and self acceptance related to her body image. For Mary s
case, I think the theory of Trans theoretical model would be suitable and valuable in her quest to
succeed in living a healthy lifestyle. This model gives Mary a specific plan to slowly change her
behaviour which gives her the tools and confidence to live an active lifestyle. Below is how this
theory is used to create a plan for change in Mary s

The Democracy Of The United States Government

Fall 2015
Voter Turnout In a democracy citizens are permitted to have a significant amount of influence on
government through the election of government officials. This is known as Direct Democracy, which
means that the citizens play a significant role on the laws and policies of the land. Although the liberty
of voting is available, why is the voter turnout so low? Many other countries have a much larger vote
turnout than the United States. The reason for this varies; some major points would be the
Demographics, voting laws, and political favoritism/corruption that affect the voter turnout. When the
people vote for a public figure they expect them to succumb to the will of the people, and not big ...

Those who campaign have a hard time reaching out to the young community. Most college students do
not own a television set, therefore are not well aware of current political affairs. In part many young
Americans feel that their vote does not matter, or that whatever they must vote for doesn t interest or
affect them in any way. Older age groups that vote tend to be more educated on politics, because they
tend to be much better educated. Ones views on politics can vary depending on the type of
environment you grew up in. The agents of socialization in one s life play a big role on determining
how one feels towards politics. Parental views on politics influence their children s future views on
politics greatly. Ethnicity and socio economic status have a huge impact on the voter turnout. Political
knowledge and perception is no different than the area you live in or the quality of food you eat, it s all
based on wealth and social status. Those who make enough money to barely survive tend to have little
to no knowledge on politics. These groups tend to be minority groups. The vast majority of groups
that tend to vote are strictly but not definitively well educated white families. Although this is not
always the case, certain ethnic groups and minority groups vote when they have interest in what they
are voting for. For example, in the 2012 election with Obama, for the first time ever the overall black
voter turnout exceeded that of the white voter turnout, the idea of

but why stick to a 40 hour work week? Reduce it to 35 hours. 2. david says: July 28th, 2009 at 2:33

it could be substantially better, because you build based on the 80% of people that are there on any

the fewer resources used to put the building up in the first place. 3. Drew Miller says: July 28th, 2009

Eraserhead
Eraserhead is a 1977 surreal, psychological horror film written and directed by david lynch. It stars
jack nance and charlotte stewart...... Eraserhead tells the story of henry, a depressed, isolated man who
after being invited to his girlfriend marys home for dinner is informed that she has given birth to a
baby. Henry and mary get married and soon after his wife leaves him, leaving him to care for his
horribly mutated offspring, all the while henry has bizare dreams and visions. Eraserhead is shot

The chacracter of henry seems to have trouble in all these areas and desperatly wants to escape his life

genuinly happy, seem to offer him an escape from his reality and ultimately his ill, mutated baby.
Lynchs use of surrealist imagery in this film is arresting, if not nightmarish at times. An example
would be the dinner scene when henry is asked to carve the chicken by marys father, as soon as he
sticks a fork in it, its legs begin to move whilst it oozes blood. In certain scenes we share in henrys
confusion and shock at the events occuring around him, a testament to lynchs direction and jack
nances perfomace. for most of the film henry is a passive character, alowing things to happen to him
without his intervention to stop them, by the end of the film however he determines to free himself
and does so in one of the more disturbing scenes of the

Public Education In Mexico
Public and Private Education in Mexico
The theme is played today between parents it is which is the best option for their children education.
Public or Private? Which of the two educational systems in Mexico is better? There are several things
that parents should consider when the best choice for the education of their child is picked up. Each
educational system is very different; the quality of teaching, especially the costs and resources of each
varies greatly. Today, there is the idea that in Mexico you have to pay a lot to get a good education.
The question is, which option is better, send your child to a public or private school?
Nowadays, Mexican s education is a controversial topic when parents need to select the best school
for their children. Exist two different types of education, public and private. In the first place, public

Hard to find someone who really believes that public schools can give as good results as private
schools. Is it true? Our public education can give as good results as private, and also fulfils a social
function without public funding, it would be impossible to achieve: to serve the entire student
population and allow gaps in educational inequality begin to be reversed.
Every year, high school results seem to confirm the supremacy of private education: high school
average of note who come from private schools is much better than those who come from public
schools. From high school students to make the average marc achieved by those who come from
public schools is 69.2, while those who come from private schools get an average of 79.9. (La Nacion
Opinion, 2013)
True is, the average private note is higher than the public, and rightly so. What is surprising is that a
huge number of students from both public schools get higher grades than those studying in private
schools.

How To Build My Own Computer
So, over the summer I built my main computer from scratch. I bought hardware such as a Ryzen

Tone Your Facial Muscles With Yoga
While it is true that the downward facing dog is beneficial for the mind, soul and body, there are other

Bigger Than Life By Nicholas Ray
Nicholas Ray s Bigger Than Life is a story of an American family man who tries to have it all and
fails because of his addiction. In an effort to visually portray this, Ray largely abandons conventional
Cinemascope practices and tends to revert to the paradigms of the Academy ratio. Rather than using
Cinemascope to highlight spectacle, Ray films a small family melodrama. Instead of splitting the
screen into thirds and adjusting the mise en scène to visually fill up the screen, Ray uses close ups,
single person shots, and symmetry. He frequently divides the screen in two at the center, essentially
treating each side as an Academy ratio film. Since Ray focuses less on clotheslining actors, he is able
to bring the audience closer to understand the psychology of Ed Avery (and physcially closer to him
than most Cinemascope films would go). The sequence towards the end of film is of paramount
importance Ray takes the tension, anger, cruelty, and derangement that has been building throughout
the film and raises it to a high enough level that Ed is willing to kill his own son. To get this across,
Ray uses composition to show Ed as isolated, sinister, and dangerous. Two of the scenes in particular
from the sequence deviate from his regular techniques, as he stages the family in a single frame to
highlight the growing distance between them all. Throughout the film, Ray used close ups to show Ed
s mental state; in this sequence, Ray largely abandons that technique Ed s state of mind

Job Satisfaction Is Essential For Productivity
Based on the fulfilment an individual contains towards their work is job satisfaction. The productivity
could either be positive or negative while the relationship between the productivity and satisfaction
may not be consistent. There are multiple internal and external factors of job satisfaction that can
impact the behavior of an employee and engagement over time. The way the worker s attitude
concerning their field effects the performance they perform on a daily basis. One who is satisfied with
the job they maintain, succeed at what they do. It is therefore imperative for a company to understand
the attitude of its workers and measure the job satisfaction of its employees, as job satisfaction is
essential for productivity (L. Bradshaw ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This has to be the most massive part in determining the attitudes of employees and their job
satisfaction. When the employee is blissful, it s usually because they are satisfied with their position in
the company. Also this tends to improve the results in their work ethic. The attitude and job
satisfaction sometimes lean towards the management because of the employees. If [personnel] enjoyed
their work, they will not need external motivation from management, but instead the satisfaction they
attain from completing their work will motivate them (Robbins). Therefore, the individual can still
attain a high job productivity without having the satisfaction in their field of work. This happens when
money is just their only motivation or if they re trying to receive a promotion. Others try to increase
their productivity due to just the satisfaction they obtain from their work socially. Another reason may
also come from an employee getting a good, decent salary. This not only improves the job satisfaction,
but gives the member of staff understanding of the fact that they get fair payment for their labors.
[But] if an employee does not get satisfaction in their work, they may seek for satisfaction in other
work unrelated areas. He or she may also be content with work as it relates with those work unrelated
areas. Job dissatisfaction may also cause an employee to quit (Robbins). In addition, empowerment is
a factor that can motivate others into enhancing their work

There is also the risk of data confidentiality at the third level with the CSP. This is also a medium level

measures.
The business continuity plans guards Confidentiality, Integrity and Availability at all times. Ensure
confidentiality by enforcing access to the backups to only the disaster response team and the system
administrators in charge. Ensure integrity by verifying and validating the backup snapshots after the
backup is completed. Ensure availability by providing dual power to the backup servers so that the

CONCLUSION
Disasters are unforeseen circumstances and the only way of tackling them is to be thoroughly prepared

Maxi s Secrets Book Report
You may believe in one thing and get yourself so caught up in believing that it is true, that you don t

bone cancer. Abby, a supporting character who is blind, is always there for Timminy even if she may
seem distant. The lunch room was crowded with kids on the first day of school. New kids trying to fit

I kept thinking about my first day of school and how Abby never quite talked to me. I wish I could go
over to her house right now, but I didn t want to push her. Maybe she was trying to tell me that I was
never really her friend.
The window was cold against my forehead. Sweat beads started to form in my armpits and tears
started to form in my eyes. I couldn t have this start right now. Sixth graders are supposed to set the
example to younger kids, and even though I look like more of a fourth grader, I couldn t have a melt
down on the first bus ride home of the school year.
My hand lightly knocked on the door. I guess I had just walked all the way here, to the neighbors
house, without even thinking. Maxi has been on my mind all day. When I came off the bus, I thought I
saw her in the window, which I wish she was, because Maxi would tell me how to handle this.
The large front door opened, and Mrs. Peterson, Abby s mother stood, smiling down at me.
Hello there, Timminy, would you like to come in? Abby is in the kitchen. I nodded and squeezed my
way through the barely open door. The Petersons always had to only crack the door open when
someone was coming in or out, afraid that Darshan would

Racism, Class, And Gender Discrimination
Social injustices are unfortunately still prevalent in today s modern society. Racism has come a far

forms. Race is a cause of political and economic interest who stratified groups in order to gain more
power. The government created social regulations to prevent social inequalities due to race, class, and

particular. Stratification leads to racial and gender discrimination in companies towards employees

businesses discrimination to colored consumers. Reading Racism in Toyland describes the experiences

Should Adoptees Have The Right To Access To Original Birth...
My mother was adopted, along with her twin sister. Now, my mom wants to know who her parents
are., bBut, there are laws preventing her from doing so. The big question in this essay is, Should
adoptees have the right to know who their biological parents are, You could also phrase it asking the
question, Do adoptees have the right to access original birth certificates? This question covers much
more, and will be what the information in this essay circles around. This essay covers three things:
adoptees have the right to access to original birth certificates because they have questions, because of
equality issues, and because of the doors it opens to adoptees that have empty holes in their history.
First, adoptees have the right to have access to original birth certificates because they have questions.
Questions about their health, questions about who they came, who they got their blue eyes from, and
other such things. As Melinda Elkins Dawson, one of 200 newborns relocated to other states for
adoption in Georgia in the 50 s and 60 s says, Every adopted child has questions. Adoptees, especially
adoptees who are older, feel empty spaces in their history, and they want to be able to fill them. We

Summary Of The Musical
1. Desire. Throughout the story of the musical Joseph is mostly trying to rise up and achieve a
worthwhile life while staying true to his faith. Early in the play he interprets his dreams to be about a
higher calling in life than being a farmer like his father and brothers. He tries to be nice to his
brothers, but doesn t realize that his belief about a higher calling is actually causing his brothers to be
jealous. He works hard while a slave for Potiphar, and that earns him a higher position in the
household. But because he holds true to his values Potiphar s Wife accuses him of trying to molest her
when she had been making the advances on him the entire time. The humility that Joseph learns from

He chooses to test them to see if they have changed in the 20 years since they first sold him into
slavery. He has the strength to not punish and to forgive.
3. Moral Stance. Joseph is considered to be a part of one of the earliest generations of the Jewish
people. Faith plays a large part in his life. He also holds a strong value towards family. After years
apart from his brothers and father they are able to reunite again in Egypt. Joseph values the ability to
be useful. His ability to interpret dreams helps him be useful to the Pharaoh, which then allows him to
be useful for the Egyptian people.
4. Decorum. Joseph starts out the story as very naïve. He trusts people will like him because he tries to
be nice. What he does not realize is that while he tried to be nice he also had a larger ego that his
brothers liked. His brothers betray him, but he still tries to show he is a hard worker by working his
way up through the slave ranks in Potiphar s house. When the Pharaoh give him the chance to help
Egypt through the famine he proves to be smart enough and hard working enough to do the job right.
Egypt is saved. He also wants to be seen as righteous, which is challenging for him when he
challenges his brothers. But when they can pass his test and he can forgive them, all is forgiven.

Magical Houses Made Of Bamboo Analysis
In the Ted Talk Magical Houses Made of Bamboo, the speaker (Elora Hardy) and her team work hard
to build these breathtaking homes out of bamboo. First, Hardy and her team harvest bamboo for their
homes. Not only does bamboo have the compressive strength of concrete, but it is also extremely light
compared to its size. The bamboo is transported to where the home is going to be built. Secondly,
since bamboo cannot last a lifetime on its own, the team adds borax which can increase the bamboo s
lifetime. Borax turns bamboo into a viable building material. Then, Hardy and her team make a 3D
blueprint of the house that they are constructing. The team considers everything when it comes down
to details. After that, an experienced team of architects and designers bend and change the shape of the
bamboo to fit their needs for the actual house. The team must use plenty of creativity to make their
design truly astonishing. For example, in the video, To reap the selective benefits and work within the

The first rule is writing in first person. An officer should always refer to themselves as I or me. Doing
this will clearly identify you as being the person doing the investigation. It will look good to those
reading your report, and also sound good to those who will hear your testimony. This will let the
reader know that is was the officer that conducted the investigation writing the report and not a
separate person recounting details and possibly missing facts. The second rule to writing is writing in
the past tense. The events in the report have already happened, and therefore should be written in the
past tense. By writing this way, you will develop consistency, therefore creating a report that is
professional and easy to read. The third rule is to use an active voice in your report. This style of
writing shows who is doing an action, instead of a passive voice which shows who is having
something done to them. This will allow the officer to mention first who was doing the action before
stating the action itself. The fourth rule in writing is to write in chronological order. Starting all reports
with the date and time and how you as an officer got involved,

Hammerhead Sharks Essay
Hammerhead Sharks
Marine Science/ Per. 1
Sharks are one of the most feared sea animals. They live in oceans across the world but are most
common in tropical waters. There are over three hundred fifty species of sharks. They can be broadly
categorized into the following four groups: Squalomorphii, Squatinomorphii, Batoidea, and
Galeomorphii. The shark family Sphyrnidae that includes the Hammerheads are part of the
Galeomorphic classification. They are probably the most easily recognizable of all the sharks. The
Hammerheads are among the strangest looking sharks. As the name indicates they have a flattened
head which resembles the head of a hammer. Their eyes and nostrils are at the ends of the hammer. ...

Sharks generally have a small brain in comparison to their body weight.
Among sharks hammerheads have a relatively large brain body weight ratio.
Sharks differ form most other fish in several ways. Sharks have a boneless skeleton made of cartilage
that is a tough elastic substance. Most sharks have a rounded body shaped like a torpedo. This shape
helps them swim efficiently.
Hammerheads are especially good swimmers because of the hydrodynamic function of their head.
All sharks are carnivorous. Most eat live fish, including other sharks.
Most sharks eat their prey whole, or tear off large chunks of flesh at a time.
They also eat dying animals. Hammerheads have definite food preferences. Their elongated head may
help them locate the prey they prefer. The Great Hammerhead likes to eat stingrays. This was
observed when the stomach contents of a hammerhead were examined and stingray spines were found.
Stingrays are usually difficult to detect because they are partially buried in the sediment. Yet, the
hammerhead is capable of finding them because they can swim close to the bottom swinging their
heads in a wide arc like a metal detector.
Sharks reproduce internally. Unlike most fish sharks eggs are fertilized internally. The male shark has
two organs called claspers which release sperm into the female where it fertilizes the egg. In many
sharks the

The Increment of the Proportion of Nurses with a...
Recommendations The fourth recommendation suggests the increment of the proportion of nurses
with a baccalaureate degree to 80% by 2020. In this way, it is fundamental to note that such an
increase is likely to impact extensively on the performance of nurses and the general efficiency of the
nursing profession. An increase of such nurses to 80% would certainly mean that the care and duty
normally provided by the nurses will certainly improve. Considering that most nurses only hold
diploma certificates as the basis for their service, an increase in degrees will mean that more nurses
will have learnt more about the nursing profession. In this regard, their performance would be
expected to increase drastically. In the same way, the government will certainly be forced to chuck out
more money in paying the nurses since the increase in the level of qualifications for the nurses would
have to be accompanied by an increase in their salaries and wages. On the other hand, it is presumed
that such an increase in the number of nurses with degrees might negatively affect the nursing
profession in case the nurses are not sufficiently paid. Most of them would thereby opt to offer their
services in the private sector in case the government is unwilling to remunerate them effectively.
When more nurses get the degrees, they will operate with a lot of commitment and dedication owing
to the increase in their salaries and wages. By doubling the number of nurses with a doctorate would

How To Learn In English Class
I am writing to you in regards that you want to know more about me. You have taught me ELA in the

Marc Chagagall Essay
Marc Chagall is considered as one of the most popular artists of the 20th Century, famous for his

modernist style. Although the famous modern artist Marc Chagall is not only known as a Jewish artist,
his background is the vehicle through which he sees the world and becomes the language of his

Technology In The Film Industry Essay
Introduction
The film industry has continuously changed since its inception due to rapid technology advancements.
Camera technology has been a key factor that has influenced the growth of filmmaking. The first
motion picture in the world was produced in the early 1880s, and the first public screening occurred
ten years later. It didn t take long for the quality of films to improve as new filmmaking equipment
emerged. Ever since the first movie was produced, the film industry has been continuously changing
in response to emerging filmmaking technology. Introduction of digital photography and digital data
storage along with the development of internet significantly influenced the film industry (Barsam,

Digital technology has erased the boundaries and offered new opportunities for shooting films.
Shooting with digital cameras tends to be easier as filmmakers can shoot more scenes in less time.
Often, multiple digital cameras can be used on the same shot but in different angles which assists in
reducing the number of retakes. Digital shooting allows filmmakers to shoot multiple takes and in
different angles at fewer costs (Murray, 2012). With new steady camera equipment, the footage shot is
more precise and intimate. This enhances the audience experience as the camera view is authentic.
Also, the cameras save time wasted on reshooting the same scene.
IT has also changed the way movies are shot particularly through application of film special effects.
The film industry heavily relies on illusions to simulate imaginary events in a story (McClean, 2007).
Computer Generated Imagery (CGI) is another key technology that is applied to special effects to
enhance films. CGI is mainly used in special effects to enable filmmakers to control the scenes instead
of using many extra actors. This has simplified film production and reduced the costs incurred. A lot
of movies especially those classified under fiction, action, and horror genres rely on CGI.
Post Production
Previously, editing used to be a challenge for most filmmakers. Often, they relied on manual methods
when filming to add effects to the films. Incorporating visual effects to the film was a demanding task

Indigenous People By Thomas King
Indigenous people are constantly put into categories by the North American government without the
White Canadians and Americans realizing it. Thomas King has a particular notion that as a society
there are three classifications that an Indigenous person can fall under; Dead, Live, or Legal Indian.
King uses the term Indian which some may seem as offensive although King proclaims: Terminology
is always a rascal and that there will never be a correct term to use, he suggests using the term that
people call themselves. Considering King s quote this paper will mainly include the terms Indian and
Indigenous when referring to Native Americans. Thomas King explains a Dead Indian as the North
American indigenous cliché of beaded, shirts, fringed deerskin dresses, loincloths, and moccasins.
With this description, Dead Indians are those who are noticeably Indigenous due to their clothing that
is typically only worn for ceremonies or dances. Live Indians are the forgotten about because they
happened to be forced into a reservation, dispersed in the rural areas, and cityscapes of North America
whereas King suggests where they were supposed to die out. King suggests that Live Indians are the
Indigenous people who are living in North America currently. Live Indians are biological Indians, but
due to the white society s perception of the Indigenous People Live Indians are not real Indians.
Lastly, Legal Indians are also Live Indians, but only the ones who are recognized by the

Comparing the Great Flood in Epic of Gilgamesh and the...
Comparing the Great Flood in Epic of Gilgamesh and the Biblical story of Noah s Ark Many of the
same ancient stories can be found in different cultures. Each story differs in a small way, but the
general idea remains synonymous. One story that is paralleled in several cultures is the legend of a
great flood. The epic of Gilgamesh resembles the Bible s story of Noah s Ark, but specific details
differ in several aspects. The story of Gilgamesh originates from twelve fire hardened, mud tablets,
written in cuneiform, in the Mesopotamian culture from around 2500 B.C.E. It has been passed down
through generations for centuries, teaching obedience to gods. The story of Noah s Ark, found in the
Christian Bible, seems to do the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Gilgamesh brought his family on the boat as well, but he also brought all the craftsmen that helped to
build it, (relg studies). This is a huge difference between the stories. The craftsmen were an added
group that reproduced and passed on their skills. Noah only took his family, relying on God to provide
them with the necessary items that they could not produce. There were not any other people on board.
Therefore, the corruption of this world is thought to come from one of Noah s sons, descending down
through him. If Gilgamesh brought craftsmen on the boat, this is a new place to lay the blame for
today s violence. The next discrepancy lies in the amount of time it rained. Noah s story emphasized
rain for forty days and forty nights. The number forty also appears in several other biblical stories.
Gilgamesh s rainfall lasts for just six days and nights. However, the numerical system of the
Mesopotamians is based on the numbers six, ten, and sixty. So the story directly relates to the
numerical system of the time, (Lecture, 9/13/1999). Perhaps this number was adopted because of its
wide use. Upon the arrival on the mountain top, each man sent out a dove, which returned because it
found no place to land. Then, Gilgamesh sent out a swallow, which also returned. When Gilgamesh
sent out a raven, it did not return. He knew the raven had found a place to land and food to live off of.

Why Is Dr.Watson Important to Sherlock Holmes Essay
The classic mystery novel, Sherlock Holmes, features a murder mystery detective Sherlock Holmes,
and his army doctor colleague Dr. John Watson. The story revolves around the main character,
Sherlock Holmes, and his unique method to solving crimes. The story is mainly all about Sherlock and
his abilities, which then rises the question about the importance of the character of Dr.Watson, both to
the chaarcter of Sherlock Holmes, and towards the readers.
The first reason why Dr.Watson might be important to the character of Sherlock is because he makes
Sherlock more human . If you have ever seen a Sherlock movie, or TV show, the first thing you would
notice about Sherlock is his gigantic ego and shellfish attitude towards other people. He ... Show more

That is where Dr.Watson also plays a part in. Dr.Watson does the boring work for Sherlock. Dr.Watson
would be guarding the door, or watching over the security cameras, meanwhile, Sherlock would be out
doing the dangerous stuff such as breaking into a secret laboratory or going out in the woods at
midnight. One example would be in the Sherlock BBC TV Show episode The Hound of Baskerville ,
when Sherlock asked Dr.Watson to watch over the house and the family, while Sherlock goes to
investigate.
Dr.Watson does not only serve as a purpose towards Sherlock, but also towards the readers or
audiences. Many may not notice this, but in the Sherlock BBC TV Show, Dr.Watson takes notes of the
cases and posts them on his blog. So therefore, the Sherlock stories were written by Dr.Watson.
Without Dr.Watson s notes or blog, there would not be a Sherlock Holmes story to be told.
Last but not least, Dr.Watson would be an important character towards the audience/readers, because
Dr.Watson will explain in everyday english, what Sherlock is saying. Sherlock often talks to himself,
and when he does figure a mystery out, he would just walk out the door and starts speaking is
accelerated gibberish. An example would be in the Sherlock book by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, the one
titled The Boscombe Valley Mystery , out of the blue, Sherlock had already solved the case. Inspector
Lestrade and Dr.Watson were all very puzzled, and i think the readers must be as well. Therefore,

Intrinsic And Extrinsic Factors Of Skin Aging
Skin aging is a process that naturally occurs in human beings from birth and is different in each person
due to intrinsic and extrinsic factors. To find out what has the most influence on the human skin, both
factors need to be fully researched. You can also look at other details to do with skin aging like the
process of it, the appearance of it and how it can be prevented. Both factors will be covered as both
are completely different processes of the skin aging. It would be true to say that not all 70 year old
females have the same skin, as many factors will affect how the skin of a 70 year old could look.
Time and age associated exposure characteristics, such as obesity and duration of exposure, are the
direct factors, and not age itself. Aging in todays environment by The National Research Council

Aging of the skin has many different factors contributing towards it and those factors fit into two
different categories; extrinsic and intrinsic. Extrinsic includes a group of factors that people can
influence themselves such as smoking, diet, sun damage and skin care. Intrinsic factors are those that
are part of the natural aging process such as genetics and hormones. Skin aging is also affected by skin
type, gender, age and ethnicity which can alter the aging process also.
To slow down the aging process, you can alter things in your everyday life, for example smoking
which is an extrinsic factor. Dr. Milton Moore, a Houston based dermatologist says

Analysis Of The Dance Field By Frank Lloyd Wright
On May 11, 1894 in Allegany City, Pennsylvania soon to be Pittsburg, Pennsylvania a legend was
born. Little did Jane and George Graham know that their last name would have worldwide recognition
thanks to their daughter, Martha. Martha Graham s work in the dance field has been compared to
Picasso s work in visual arts, Frank Lloyd Wright s work in architecture, and the influence of
Stravinsky on music. The Graham family moved to California in the 1910 s, and when Graham was
17, she went to see her first ever dance performance. She saw Ruth St. Denis, a modern dance pioneer,
perform in Los Angeles. Graham was so inspired that she begged her parents to allow her to study
dance. Being strong Presbyterians, her parents didn t exactly support the idea. Despite what her
parents thought, Graham enrolled herself in an arts oriented junior college. After her father died, she
started attending the new Denishawn School of Dancing and Related Arts, founded by St. Denis and
her husband, Ted Shawn. What Graham learned there would fundamentally shape her dancing style
moving forward. Pretty soon Graham s technique was strong enough to start working professionally as
a dancer. Her passionate, emotional performance style gained her the attention of the nation. As the
years progressed, Graham transitioned from performer to choreographer. The life of a dancer isn t
always well funded, so when Graham was offered teaching opportunities in New York City, she took

Developmental Life Cycle Theory
The family developmental and life cycle theory is the studying of families, which include stages that
the family move through based on life experiences, that are usually predictable depending on the stage
they are in (Kaakinen, Coehlo, Steele, Tabacco, Hanson, 2015). There are nine tasks that families must
accomplish in order for the family to achieve well being. In this discussion board post, I will be
discussing task two, which is financing childbearing and child rearing. Having children, whether
planned or not, produces additional expenses for a family that some may not be prepared for. While
parents don t immediately think about long term cost when raising a child, it is shown that raising a
child in American from birth to age 17, is over $241,080, and this number is expected to increase

United States. These families encounter an imbalance in their education, health care, and

on their daily survival and this creates an economic hardship. Milteer et al., (2012) shows that ... Show

precognition that after they became pregnant, the father would be injured, therefore reducing their

It is clear that the two were in the field that day and they both saw very similar things which the also
interpreted very similarly. When we compare William s poem and Dorothy s journal we can see both
comparisons and contrasts between the texts. The different comparisons we see may help us
understand why Dorothy did not achieve such fame as her brother had. Dorothy s description of the
text is very natural as she is simply describing what she saw and how she saw it then and there. When
she first saw the daffodils she simply says When we were in the woods beyond Gowbarrow park we
saw a few daffodils close to the water side. We fancied that the lake had floated the seeds ashore and
that the little colony had so sprung up. (Journals of Dorothy Wordsworth: The Alfoxden Journal 1798,
The Grasmere Journals 1800 1803). When William describes the field full of Daffodils he uses a great
deal of description to emphasis the beauty of the flowers and to make it clear about how he felt. In
contrast to Dorothy s initial reaction to the daffodils William says When all at once I saw a crowd, A
host, of golden daffodils; Beside the lake, beneath the trees, Fluttering and dancing in the breeze.
(William Wordsworth, I wandered lonely as a cloud , 1807). It is clear that that William and Dorothy
had very different writing techniques. Dorothy has a plain and simple flow to her writings whereas
William has a dramatic and descriptive style. This is a clear contrast between the two

Human Cloning Should be Condemned Essays
Human Cloning Should be Condemned
On November 25, 2001, the news that a firm called Advanced Cell Technology had created human
embryos by cloning added new urgency to Congress s and the nation s deliberations on this issue.
This past summer, by a 265 to 162 margin, the House of Representatives passed a carefully worded
ban on human cloning (H.R. 2505) which President Bush has said he will sign into law. The leadership
of the Senate nonetheless has refused to take action on this measure, or even to consider a temporary
moratorium on human cloning research. Further delay will only encourage some researchers to take
further irresponsible steps toward the laboratory manufacture and destruction of human life. Such ...

When cloning is done to pursue medical research, the reduction of human life to a mere instrument is
even more complete, for a new human being is created solely to be destroyed for his or her cells and
tissues. Even if medical benefits could be derived from such destruction, it is never morally
permissible to achieve good ends through evil actions.
Neither practice should be allowed in a society that claims to respect inherent human dignity. As a
representative of the Holy See recently stated to a committee of the United Nations General Assembly:
The act of cloning... is actually a form of imposing dominion over another human being which denies
the human dignity of the child and makes him or her a slave to the will of others (31 Origins,
December 6, 2001, p. 439).
Evasions and misstatements have entered the public debate to obscure this moral issue. At a recent
Senate hearing, even the scientists who published articles about their success in cloning human
embryos tried to avoid the word embryo and even the word cloning to hide the reality of what they are
doing. The fact remains that when somatic cell nuclear transfer is used to initiate embryonic
development, a new human embryo is created with the same genetic constitution as another human
being. While some may wish to debate the moral status of this new human

Elizabeth Bennet Enlightenment
Elizabeth Bennet As An Enlightenment Figure
During the Regency Period of 19th century England, traditions and strict social standards
characterized society. The lower class were inferior to the wealthy, and the sentiment of male
superiority suppressed the potential of women. However, these standards were challenged by the Age
of Enlightenment, which occurred prior to the Regency Period and inspired the use of independent
thinking. Enlightenment figures questioned traditional authority and embraced the notion that
humanity could be improved through rational change, therefore providing the impetus for others to
diverge from set customs (History.com Staff). In Jane Austen s Pride and Prejudice, Elizabeth Bennet

Initially, she has a tendency to prematurely judge a person s character and establish an opinion of
them. Upon first meeting Mr. Darcy, she overhears a distasteful conversation between him and Mr.
Bingley, which leads her to assume that she has no very cordial feelings towards him (Austen 14).
Elizabeth s negative opinion of Mr. Darcy intensifies when Mr. Wickham tells her stories that appear
to confirm his overly prideful demeanor. Mr. Darcy, however, believes that Elizabeth is too rash in her
judgements, and says, I can readily believe [...] that reports may vary greatly with respect to me; and I
could wish Miss Bennet, that you were not to sketch my character at the present moment (Austen 92).
Darcy knows that Wickham s stories are false, but Elizabeth s flaw initially prevents her from listening
to his reasoning. She firmly turns down his first marriage proposal, claiming that she has every reason
in the world to think ill of [him] (Austen 186); however, in a subsequent letter, Darcy gives a thorough
explanation concerning Elizabeth s misgivings. After reading over his message multiple times,
Elizabeth finally realizes her mistakes. She grows absolutely ashamed of herself, and admits, Until

The Problem Of Saudi Arabia
Saudi Arabia is a country mainly known for the origin of Islam and has two holiest places in the
country. Saudi Arabia is an oil producing country with huge reserve fund and its currency is doing
very good on the financial front. Till early nineties country was in the very good state of the financial
as well as population distribution. Most of the Saudis were working and having very low
unemployment situation. With the increase in the population and educated youth demand for work has
increased and those who could not get jobs turned their faces towards other activities like an illegal
business and helping or involving them in terrorist activities. To meet this growing problem king
Suleman tried to analyze the problem and declared some policies about the illegal immigrants or
people overstaying in the country even after their immigration time has expired. The rule has been so
critical and changed the definition of the immigration that people staying in the country after the
expiry of their visa will be treated as an illegal immigrant. The police have taken very strong action
against the illegal immigrants. This all is done to accommodate their own people in certain jobs so that
they can be employed and the illegal activities can be curtailed down. The aim of the policy is to
satisfy the local people that the government is worried about their problem and taking action in the
right direction. But the analyst says that the certain work which can be performed by certain labor

Mega Churches Stereotypes
Scanning the internet the other day was this derogatory article concerning mega churches stereotyped
as big business, assessing how thousands of people give huge amounts of money. The article failed to
mention how God blesses His people with such huge amounts of money in order for them to return
huge amounts of money. Churches need to be big and rich for help people, and when people are
helped the church cannot be big enough. The worlds system in its late stages of falling apart will
always perpetuate itself in that direction. We have allowed ourselves to be drawn into such a darkened
state of confusion we cannot even see the light of day. The world we live in is without fear and
understanding of consequences in its manufactured sins, we are ... Show more content on

She saw an idiot stomping on a US Flag and attempting to burn it and took it away from him and was
holding it dear to her heart when the police came and forcibly took it away from her and gave it back
to the idiot. What makes it legal for idiots are laws that are supposed to be made by Congress, have
begun to be made in court rooms. Courts were designed to interpret the law. Twenty five years ago a
man that was a member of the Communist party burned the American flag and when he was arrested
he took the case along with the ACLU to the Supreme Court who made a 5 to 4 decision to repeal the
law and declared it as free speech saying that it did not cause or threaten to cause a breach of peace.
Congress made seven attempts to overrule the Supreme Court decision regarding the burning of the
American flag by passing a constitutional amendment, but was unable to gather the required two
thirds majority. In 1994 it made it through a Republican Congress with the House majority, but the
Democratic Senate shot it down. Even President George H Bush Sr. dishonored us by agreeing with
the court s decision. After the San Francisco 49ers allowed quarterback Colin Kaepernick to take a
knee during the National Anthem, Mark Cuban told his Dallas Mavericks that it was acceptable to join
the protest by

Comparing The American Dream In The Great Gatsby And Black...
The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald and Black Boy by Richard Wright both show the theme of the
American Dream throughout the books. The American dream is the possibility of making a good life
for yourself, the idea of rags to riches was the most popular concept of getting a better life. The
American dream can both be found in the concepts of character decisions and conflict.
The American Dream of getting rich was a goal that every immigrant had coming to the United States,
but it was hard to find a way to obtain that amount of money. Gatsby tried to get rich from the start of
his life. Gatsby s dad showed Nick Gatsby s plan to get rich in his childhood This is a book he had
when he was a boy. It just shows you (Fitzgerald 173). Gatsby ... Show more content on

His first problem he recognized in his life was his hunger that he had growing up. His hunger could be
taken literally and figuratively throughout the book. He realized his hunger growing up when he asked
his mother when he going to get food due to the lack of his father s support, But it had never occurred
to me that his absence would mean that there would be no food (Wright 15). His father left his family
when he was growing up, it was the only source of income for his family. When he left, the family
struggled even more trying to survive. This drove the idea into Richard that money was a key
necessity to live a decent

A Six-Step Writing Process
As high school students you write almost every day whether that is in the form of an essay, research
paper or a tweet on the Internet. What if I told you there was a simpler way to write that allows
information to be organized as well as presented better? The writing process consists of six main
steps. These six steps consist of pre writing, drafting, revising, editing, proofreading and publishing.
Some of these steps are more prominent in the process, but as a whole these steps assist in the creating
of a clear and well written paper. To help demonstrate the writing process in simpler way I will relate
it to something that is well known to most teenagers, that being food. Not just food but also the
process of preparing food in specific the process of creating a stir fry. In the writing process the first
step consists of a pre writing stage. Pre writing can be explained in the form of an outline or notes
about the writing assignment you will begin shortly. In congruence with the pre writing stage, creating
a stir fry uses similar procedures. So to start off the stir fry process you must first gather your
ingredients. These ingredients can consist of a variety of meats to provide protein including chicken,
shrimp and beef. This step is just like in a paper when you gather the info for the bulk of your paper,
such as choosing the topic of the paper. By doing this first step in the writing process as well as the
cooking process you prepare yourself a guideline for the

Immokalee Assignment

Material in Chapter 1 August 28, 2015 English 1101 Section U54 Academy of Arts Sciences 11200
SW 8th Street Miami, FL 33199 Mr. Robert Saba I did a paper a year ago for my English teacher
about the farmers who work and live in Immokalee. The assignment was to visit Immokalee and see
how the people live and struggle each day to make ends meats in order to persuade companies to give
them a penny more per pound. The assignment was three and half pages long. While I was in
Immokalee I found out a third of the families that live there are below the poverty line. They talked
about how they formed a coalition to get a penny more per pound from food corporations ... Show

However, it could also fall under open forms considering it expresses the problems the farmers have in
Immokalee and try to persuade people to participate together to form different ideas and programs to
help them have a better life. The option is still left up to a person of whether they want to help the
people in Immokalee or not. The Immokalee paper did have a good interesting question of whether we
would allow this form of slavery to continue even though slavery is illegal. The purpose of that paper
was to convince people to help the Immokalee people earn more money and a better education. The
audience consists of teenagers, college students, and adults who would join the cause to protest with
them. I was writing a narrative persuasive essay to give information about the Immokalee farmers and
how others need to help them in their fight. This chapter had me thinking about a problem first before
I began writing. It helped me to understand I need to have a specific group to who I am writing to. I
actually have to know why I am writing something instead of just writing it. Finally, not all writing
doesn t need a thesis, but can have a question where you don t need a

Examples Of Satire On Smoking
Satire It s not surprising that in this world you see at least one person a day smoking. I mean, who
doesn t love watching people rush to get lung cancer? Seeing one person just taking their life away
with something so stoppable, is so adorable, I mean what other qualities would you look for in a man?
I like mine fully addicted and ready to waste their life away. It s the best religion that I must say so
myself. In fact, I like that, people rely on something like religion to lead them in the way they want to
live their life. I personally believe in the smokies. The smokinese are a group of people that worship
nicotine. Id honestly love to be a part of that. I mean, I love the smell of it in the air, the feeling of
polluted air. Nothing gets better than that. In reality smoking is the only relief to take away pain these
days. I mean, what other reason would people put something so horrible into their body if it didn t
relieve any type of stress or good feeling. I live for the day to see everyone to have lung cancer and
killing themselves for just being vulnerable about stress relief. I mean, people preach smoking
nowadays. People wanna go back to the way of smoking in a restaurant and people recommend it, it s
a religion that s being created without anyone understanding. As the smokinese people believe that the
only way to live a happy and stress free life is to become addicted to smoking, they sure are right. I
mean, think about it, out of everyone in this world that

Social Organization and Laws in the Trobiand Islands
Bronislaw Malinowski argued that law functions in and shapes daily life in every culture. Regardless
of whether it is a civilized society or a savage society, every culture has laws and there are among the
many norms of conduct in savage societies regarded as compulsory obligations of one individual or
group towards another individual or group (Malinowski, 1985, 12). Laws are essential in every culture
regardless of whether savage or civilized (Malinowski, 1985, 13). Malinowski believed that all
societies had laws, rules, and customs that are followed; in addition to hard laws, there are also social
morals and obligations that are followed. It may be culture specific, but it exists in all cultures.
Malinowski argued that there is a number of laws, taboos and obligations in every human culture
which weigh heavily on every citizen, demand great self sacrifice, and are obeyed for moral,
sentimental or matter of fact reasons, but without any spontaneity (Malinowski, 1985, 13 14). While
there are laws written down to be followed, there are also moral laws that should not be broken; within
every society, civilized or not, some do break laws; as a result, there are punishments that come after,
some harsher than others.
Malinowski went to study the culture of the Trobriand Islands in Melanesia from 1915 to 1918. In
order to grasp an understanding of how a culture works, he believed an anthropologist must live in the
society to adequately record how everyday life works and

Jack London Grief
Physical and Mental Frozen Death In the short story To build a fire by Jack London the men goes
through a stage of freezing death accurately following the 5 stages of grief and the body physically
giving up.
As the men sets a goal to reach the camp on Henderson at a certain timing, who would have knew that
nature would be cause of his death. The weather is seventy five below zero in Alaska. In the first stage
of grief denial and isolation is being described as a temporary response that carries us through the first
wave of pain ( Psych Central ).The man seems to not care much about his husky dog and tends to push

There are two dynamics that the body goes through in death physical plane and emotional spiritual
mental plane.Physical plane is when body has a process of shutting down which in this case the men
fell asleep.Emotional spiritual mental plane the spirit of the dying person begins the final process of
release from the body ( Preparing For Approaching Death ).The body also tends to cool down and
slowly get chillier but it was already cold.Ross mentions there is no real way to study the
psychological aspect of dying.
A low body temperature is called hypothermia. When being wet and cold the body loses heat about 25
times faster in water than in air. People can even develop hypothermia at temperatures above freezing
if it s raining (Can a person freeze to death?).Normal core body temperature is 98.6 degrees
Fahrenheit, and mild hypothermia sets in at about 95 degrees F.At 91 degrees F, you can experience
amnesia, and at 82 degrees you can lose

President Nixons International and Domestic Challenges Essay
Name Teacher AP US History September 20, 2012 President Richard M. Nixon s administration had
to face many international and domestic challenges in the United States between 1968 and 1974, some
positive and some negative. His achievements in expanding peaceful relationships with both China
and the Soviet Union are contrastingly different with his continuation of the Vietnam War. In the end,
Nixon s scandals and abuse of presidential power caught up to him, and his administration did much
to corrode America s faith in the government. In 1968, Richard Nixon gave his acceptance speech at
the Republican National Convention(Doc A). He said that it was time for a new leadership for the
United States of America, and that new leadership was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He announced it was the first symbolic act of the environmental decade. Between the years of 1970
and 1972, Nixon created the Environmental Protection Agency and signed laws including the Clean
Air Act, Clean Water Act, and the Marine Mammal Protection Act. Another thing he did was sign
executive orders and international agreements on environmental issues. In early 1973, an international
conference was held to discuss endangered species. The product of the conference was the Convention
on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora. The U.S. needed a new
legislation to meet some of the agreement s provisions and it led to the Endangered Species Act. In
Nixon s State of the Union speech in 1973, he called for stronger wildlife protection. The results of
these environmental laws and international agreements made the public extremely happy. Even though
Nixon s intentions were selfish when he got involved in environmental concerns, he responded
unquestionably positive. All his hard work helped pave the way for a cleaner society. In 1973, an oil
crisis began when the members of the OAPEC (consisting of the Arab members of OPEC, plus Egypt,
Syria and Tunisia) proclaimed an oil embargo in response to the United States decision to resupply the
Israeli military during the Yom Kippur War. The embargo happened when 85% of American workers
had to drive to work every day. President

  • 2. The Tragedy of the Commons and Collective Action Essay The tragedy of the commons and the problem of collective action are two key concepts in the world of political science. They act under the assumption that man is a rational being who will act in his own self interest. Humanity id broadly diverse meaning that each individual has their own ideas as to how society should run and how people should live.(heywood) This inevitably results in disagreement and this is where politics steps in. Aristotle described politics as the master science , the activity through which human beings attempt to improve their lives and create the Good Society. Through the tragedy of the commons and the problem of collective action we can see how politics is essentially the search for conflict resolution ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However Mancur Olson (cite) states in his book that rational self interested individuals will not act to achieve their common or group interests. Coercion or other incentives are needed for this to occur. Communication can be used as moral suasion (ostrom) This became known as the zero contribution thesis . A social dilemma is when individuals choose actions that will affect others as well as themselves. The individual will aim to benefit themselves short term which generally results in a lower joint outcome. If the individuals acted collectively they would achieve a better optimal outcome than the one they would achieve on their own. These social dilemmas have been characterised in game theory by the prisoners dilemma. They will achieve the Nash equilibrium which is lower than the socially desirable outcome. This is the problem of collective action. This is not to say that forms of collective action cannot be seen in everyday world. Mobs, gangs, cartels, neighbourhood associations, charities and voting are all forms of collective action. (ostrom) These social dilemmas are related to common pool resources. The problem of free riding can be an issue. . There has to be governance of common pool resources. If, for example collective action was man s natural instinct then ... Trans-Theoretical Model Of Motivation In Sport The term motivation is critical in improving someone s health and wellbeing because motivation is the reason why someone would take part in sports or exercise. There are many models of motivation and behavioural change but we will focus on one called Trans theoretical model. The model s main focus is to explain the processes that might lead a person to exercise. The TM has five stages that a person goes through. This is known as Direct Democracy, which means that the citizens play a significant role on the laws and policies of the land. Although the liberty of voting is available, why is the voter turnout so low? Many other countries have a much larger vote turnout than the United States. Older age groups that vote tend to be more educated on politics, because they tend to be much better educated. Ones views on politics can vary depending on the type of environment you grew up in. The agents of socialization in one s life play a big role on determining how one feels towards politics. Parental views on politics influence their children s future views on politics greatly. Ethnicity and socio economic status have a huge impact on the voter turnout. Political knowledge and perception is no different than the area you live in or the quality of food you eat, it s all based on wealth and social status. Those who make enough money to barely survive tend to have little to no knowledge on politics. These groups tend to be minority groups. The vast majority of groups that tend to vote are strictly but not definitively well educated white families. Although this is not always the case, certain ethnic groups and minority groups vote when they have interest in what they are voting for. • 12. Bigger Than Life By Nicholas Ray Nicholas Ray s Bigger Than Life is a story of an American family man who tries to have it all and fails because of his addiction. In an effort to visually portray this, Ray largely abandons conventional Cinemascope practices and tends to revert to the paradigms of the Academy ratio. Rather than using Cinemascope to highlight spectacle, Ray films a small family melodrama. Instead of splitting the screen into thirds and adjusting the mise en scène to visually fill up the screen, Ray uses close ups, single person shots, and symmetry. He frequently divides the screen in two at the center, essentially treating each side as an Academy ratio film. Since Ray focuses less on clotheslining actors, he is able to bring the audience closer to understand the psychology of Ed Avery (and physcially closer to him than most Cinemascope films would go). The sequence towards the end of film is of paramount importance Ray takes the tension, anger, cruelty, and derangement that has been building throughout the film and raises it to a high enough level that Ed is willing to kill his own son. To get this across, Ray uses composition to show Ed as isolated, sinister, and dangerous. Two of the scenes in particular from the sequence deviate from his regular techniques, as he stages the family in a single frame to highlight the growing distance between them all. Throughout the film, Ray used close ups to show Ed s mental state; in this sequence, Ray largely abandons that technique Ed s state of mind ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

When the employee is blissful, it s usually because they are satisfied with their position in the company. Also this tends to improve the results in their work ethic. If [personnel] enjoyed their work, they will not need external motivation from management, but instead the satisfaction they attain from completing their work will motivate them (Robbins). Therefore, the individual can still attain a high job productivity without having the satisfaction in their field of work. This happens when money is just their only motivation or if they re trying to receive a promotion. Others try to increase their productivity due to just the satisfaction they obtain from their work socially. Another reason may also come from an employee getting a good, decent salary. Now, my mom wants to know who her parents are., bBut, there are laws preventing her from doing so. The big question in this essay is, Should adoptees have the right to know who their biological parents are, You could also phrase it asking the question, Do adoptees have the right to access original birth certificates? This question covers much more, and will be what the information in this essay circles around. This essay covers three things: adoptees have the right to access to original birth certificates because they have questions, because of equality issues, and because of the doors it opens to adoptees that have empty holes in their history. First, adoptees have the right to have access to original birth certificates because they have questions. He tries to be nice to his brothers, but doesn t realize that his belief about a higher calling is actually causing his brothers to be jealous. He works hard while a slave for Potiphar, and that earns him a higher position in the household. He trusts people will like him because he tries to be nice. What he does not realize is that while he tried to be nice he also had a larger ego that his brothers liked. His brothers betray him, but he still tries to show he is a hard worker by working his way up through the slave ranks in Potiphar s house. When the Pharaoh give him the chance to help Egypt through the famine he proves to be smart enough and hard working enough to do the job right. Egypt is saved. First, Hardy and her team harvest bamboo for their homes. Not only does bamboo have the compressive strength of concrete, but it is also extremely light compared to its size. The bamboo is transported to where the home is going to be built. Secondly, since bamboo cannot last a lifetime on its own, the team adds borax which can increase the bamboo s lifetime. Borax turns bamboo into a viable building material. Then, Hardy and her team make a 3D blueprint of the house that they are constructing. The team considers everything when it comes down to details. After that, an experienced team of architects and designers bend and change the shape of the bamboo to fit their needs for the actual house. The team must use plenty of creativity to make their design truly astonishing. • 21. Characteristics Of A Poorly Written Report As a police officer, the difference between a well written and poorly written report is massive. A poorly written report can leave out crucial points that will affect the outcome of each case. There are certain rules of writing when writing a report, that will change a poorly written report to a well written one. The first rule is writing in first person. An officer should always refer to themselves as I or me. Doing this will clearly identify you as being the person doing the investigation. It will look good to those reading your report, and also sound good to those who will hear your testimony. This will let the reader know that is was the officer that conducted the investigation writing the report and not a separate person recounting details and possibly missing facts. The second rule to writing is writing in the past tense. The events in the report have already happened, and therefore should be written in the past tense. By writing this way, you will develop consistency, therefore creating a report that is professional and easy to read. The third rule is to use an active voice in your report. This style of writing shows who is doing an action, instead of a passive voice which shows who is having something done to them. This will allow the officer to mention first who was doing the action before stating the action itself. The fourth rule in writing is to write in chronological order. Starting all reports with the date and time and how you as an officer got involved, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Their elongated head may help them locate the prey they prefer. The Great Hammerhead likes to eat stingrays. This was observed when the stomach contents of a hammerhead were examined and stingray spines were found. Stingrays are usually difficult to detect because they are partially buried in the sediment. Yet, the hammerhead is capable of finding them because they can swim close to the bottom swinging their heads in a wide arc like a metal detector. Sharks reproduce internally. In this way, it is fundamental to note that such an increase is likely to impact extensively on the performance of nurses and the general efficiency of the nursing profession. An increase of such nurses to 80% would certainly mean that the care and duty normally provided by the nurses will certainly improve. Considering that most nurses only hold diploma certificates as the basis for their service, an increase in degrees will mean that more nurses will have learnt more about the nursing profession. In this regard, their performance would be expected to increase drastically. In the same way, the government will certainly be forced to chuck out more money in paying the nurses since the increase in the level of qualifications for the nurses would have to be accompanied by an increase in their salaries and wages. On the other hand, it is presumed that such an increase in the number of nurses with degrees might negatively affect the nursing profession in case the nurses are not sufficiently paid. Most of them would thereby opt to offer their services in the private sector in case the government is unwilling to remunerate them effectively. Shooting with digital cameras tends to be easier as filmmakers can shoot more scenes in less time. Often, multiple digital cameras can be used on the same shot but in different angles which assists in reducing the number of retakes. Digital shooting allows filmmakers to shoot multiple takes and in different angles at fewer costs (Murray, 2012). With new steady camera equipment, the footage shot is more precise and intimate. Computer Generated Imagery (CGI) is another key technology that is applied to special effects to enhance films. CGI is mainly used in special effects to enable filmmakers to control the scenes instead of using many extra actors. This has simplified film production and reduced the costs incurred. The story of Gilgamesh originates from twelve fire hardened, mud tablets, written in cuneiform, in the Mesopotamian culture from around 2500 B.C.E. This is a huge difference between the stories. The craftsmen were an added group that reproduced and passed on their skills. Noah only took his family, relying on God to provide them with the necessary items that they could not produce. There were not any other people on board. Therefore, the corruption of this world is thought to come from one of Noah s sons, descending down through him. If Gilgamesh brought craftsmen on the boat, this is a new place to lay the blame for today s violence. The next discrepancy lies in the amount of time it rained. Noah s story emphasized rain for forty days and forty nights. The number forty also appears in several other biblical stories. Gilgamesh s rainfall lasts for just six days and nights. However, the numerical system of the Mesopotamians is based on the numbers six, ten, and sixty. So the story directly relates to the numerical system of the time, (Lecture, 9/13/1999). Perhaps this number was adopted because of its wide use. Upon the arrival on the mountain top, each man sent out a dove, which returned because it found no place to land. At a recent Senate hearing, even the scientists who published articles about their success in cloning human embryos tried to avoid the word embryo and even the word cloning to hide the reality of what they are doing. The fact remains that when somatic cell nuclear transfer is used to initiate embryonic development, a new human embryo is created with the same genetic constitution as another human being. While some may wish to debate the moral status of this new human ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 39. Elizabeth Bennet Enlightenment Elizabeth Bennet As An Enlightenment Figure During the Regency Period of 19th century England, traditions and strict social standards characterized society. The lower class were inferior to the wealthy, and the sentiment of male superiority suppressed the potential of women. However, these standards were challenged by the Age of Enlightenment, which occurred prior to the Regency Period and inspired the use of independent thinking. Enlightenment figures questioned traditional authority and embraced the notion that humanity could be improved through rational change, therefore providing the impetus for others to diverge from set customs (History.com Staff). Initially, she has a tendency to prematurely judge a person s character and establish an opinion of them. Upon first meeting Mr. Darcy, she overhears a distasteful conversation between him and Mr. Bingley, which leads her to assume that she has no very cordial feelings towards him (Austen 14). Elizabeth s negative opinion of Mr. Darcy intensifies when Mr. Wickham tells her stories that appear to confirm his overly prideful demeanor. Mr. Darcy, however, believes that Elizabeth is too rash in her judgements, and says, I can readily believe [...] that reports may vary greatly with respect to me; and I could wish Miss Bennet, that you were not to sketch my character at the present moment (Austen 92). Darcy knows that Wickham s stories are false, but Elizabeth s flaw initially prevents her from listening to his reasoning. She firmly turns down his first marriage proposal, claiming that she has every reason in the world to think ill of [him] (Austen 186); however, in a subsequent letter, Darcy gives a thorough explanation concerning Elizabeth s misgivings. After reading over his message multiple times, Elizabeth finally realizes her mistakes. She grows absolutely ashamed of herself, and admits, Until this moment, I never knew myself (Austen 201 202). Such profound self awareness is not often demonstrated by other characters, and Elizabeth breaks from the conventional way of thinking by learning how to accept and overcome her ... Saudi Arabia is an oil producing country with huge reserve fund and its currency is doing very good on the financial front. Till early nineties country was in the very good state of the financial as well as population distribution. Most of the Saudis were working and having very low unemployment situation. With the increase in the population and educated youth demand for work has increased and those who could not get jobs turned their faces towards other activities like an illegal business and helping or involving them in terrorist activities. To meet this growing problem king Suleman tried to analyze the problem and declared some policies about the illegal immigrants or people overstaying in the country even after their immigration time has expired. The rule has been so critical and changed the definition of the immigration that people staying in the country after the expiry of their visa will be treated as an illegal immigrant. The police have taken very strong action against the illegal immigrants. This all is done to accommodate their own people in certain jobs so that they can be employed and the illegal activities can be curtailed down. The aim of the policy is to satisfy the local people that the government is worried about their problem and taking action in the right direction. Mega Churches Stereotypes Scanning the internet the other day was this derogatory article concerning mega churches stereotyped as big business, assessing how thousands of people give huge amounts of money. Scott Fitzgerald and Black Boy by Richard Wright both show the theme of the American Dream throughout the books. The American dream is the possibility of making a good life for yourself, the idea of rags to riches was the most popular concept of getting a better life. The American dream can both be found in the concepts of character decisions and conflict. The American Dream of getting rich was a goal that every immigrant had coming to the United States, but it was hard to find a way to obtain that amount of money. • 43. A Six-Step Writing Process As high school students you write almost every day whether that is in the form of an essay, research paper or a tweet on the Internet. What if I told you there was a simpler way to write that allows information to be organized as well as presented better? The writing process consists of six main steps. These six steps consist of pre writing, drafting, revising, editing, proofreading and publishing. Some of these steps are more prominent in the process, but as a whole these steps assist in the creating of a clear and well written paper. To help demonstrate the writing process in simpler way I will relate it to something that is well known to most teenagers, that being food. Not just food but also the process of preparing food in specific the process of creating a stir fry. In the writing process the first step consists of a pre writing stage. Pre writing can be explained in the form of an outline or notes about the writing assignment you will begin shortly. In congruence with the pre writing stage, creating a stir fry uses similar procedures. So to start off the stir fry process you must first gather your ingredients. These ingredients can consist of a variety of meats to provide protein including chicken, shrimp and beef. This step is just like in a paper when you gather the info for the bulk of your paper, such as choosing the topic of the paper. By doing this first step in the writing process as well as the cooking process you prepare yourself a guideline for the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

However, it could also fall under open forms considering it expresses the problems the farmers have in Immokalee and try to persuade people to participate together to form different ideas and programs to help them have a better life. The option is still left up to a person of whether they want to help the people in Immokalee or not. The Immokalee paper did have a good interesting question of whether we would allow this form of slavery to continue even though slavery is illegal. The purpose of that paper was to convince people to help the Immokalee people earn more money and a better education. The audience consists of teenagers, college students, and adults who would join the cause to protest with them. Seeing one person just taking their life away with something so stoppable, is so adorable, I mean what other qualities would you look for in a man? I like mine fully addicted and ready to waste their life away. It s the best religion that I must say so myself. In fact, I like that, people rely on something like religion to lead them in the way they want to live their life. I personally believe in the smokies. The smokinese are a group of people that worship nicotine. Id honestly love to be a part of that. I mean, I love the smell of it in the air, the feeling of polluted air. Nothing gets better than that. In reality smoking is the only relief to take away pain these days. I mean, what other reason would people put something so horrible into their body if it didn t relieve any type of stress or good feeling. I live for the day to see everyone to have lung cancer and killing themselves for just being vulnerable about stress relief. I mean, people preach smoking nowadays. People wanna go back to the way of smoking in a restaurant and people recommend it, it s a religion that s being created without anyone understanding. • 46. Social Organization and Laws in the Trobiand Islands Bronislaw Malinowski argued that law functions in and shapes daily life in every culture. Regardless of whether it is a civilized society or a savage society, every culture has laws and there are among the many norms of conduct in savage societies regarded as compulsory obligations of one individual or group towards another individual or group (Malinowski, 1985, 12). Laws are essential in every culture regardless of whether savage or civilized (Malinowski, 1985, 13). Malinowski believed that all societies had laws, rules, and customs that are followed; in addition to hard laws, there are also social morals and obligations that are followed. It may be culture specific, but it exists in all cultures. Malinowski argued that there is a number of laws, taboos and obligations in every human culture which weigh heavily on every citizen, demand great self sacrifice, and are obeyed for moral, sentimental or matter of fact reasons, but without any spontaneity (Malinowski, 1985, 13 14). While there are laws written down to be followed, there are also moral laws that should not be broken; within every society, civilized or not, some do break laws; as a result, there are punishments that come after, some harsher than others. Malinowski went to study the culture of the Trobriand Islands in Melanesia from 1915 to 1918. In order to grasp an understanding of how a culture works, he believed an anthropologist must live in the society to adequately record how everyday life works and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 48. President Nixons International and Domestic Challenges Essay Name Teacher AP US History September 20, 2012 President Richard M. Nixon s administration had to face many international and domestic challenges in the United States between 1968 and 1974, some positive and some negative. His achievements in expanding peaceful relationships with both China and the Soviet Union are contrastingly different with his continuation of the Vietnam War. In the end, Nixon s scandals and abuse of presidential power caught up to him, and his administration did much to corrode America s faith in the government. In 1968, Richard Nixon gave his acceptance speech at the Republican National Convention(Doc A). He announced it was the first symbolic act of the environmental decade. Between the years of 1970 and 1972, Nixon created the Environmental Protection Agency and signed laws including the Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, and the Marine Mammal Protection Act. Another thing he did was sign executive orders and international agreements on environmental issues. In early 1973, an international conference was held to discuss endangered species. The product of the conference was the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora. The U.S. needed a new legislation to meet some of the agreement s provisions and it led to the Endangered Species Act. In Nixon s State of the Union speech in 1973, he called for stronger wildlife protection. The results of these environmental laws and international agreements made the public extremely happy. Even though Nixon s intentions were selfish when he got involved in environmental concerns, he responded unquestionably positive. All his hard work helped pave the way for a cleaner society. In 1973, an oil crisis began when the members of the OAPEC (consisting of the Arab members of OPEC, plus Egypt, Syria and Tunisia) proclaimed an oil embargo in response to the United States decision to resupply the Israeli military during the Yom Kippur War. The embargo happened when 85% of American workers had to drive to work every day. President ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
