Catcher In The Rye Film Analysis
The moral dilemmas and diversity attained when one reaches adulthood can appear complex and
incomprehensible, hence change is difficult. Through the main protagonist Holden Caulfield, J.D.
Salinger captures the confusion of a teenager when faced with the challenge of adapting to an adult
society and changing their own sense of values and morals. . . . I have to catch everybody if they start
to go over the cliff.... I d just be The Catcher in the Rye and all, shows his idea of catching children

Likewise, to Catcher in the Rye, characters in both these texts face the unwanted change and is
challenged to adapt and embrace the changing environment. In the scene where the soda shop is being
overturned, there are slow motion shots highlighting the importance and drama of this twist in the
story. These shots are particularly effective in leaving no doubt in the audience s mind that the riots are
extremely substantial within the movie and are going to lead to many different means of consequence.
In addition, handheld cameras are used during the riot, in order to highlight the franticness of the
people. The nature of the shots reflect irrevocably the sentiments of the citizens of the town, in that
they are confused, unaware of what is happening and everything is not straight forward and slow
moving, like the previous camera angles and devices, used. Other cinematic techniques such as music
and sound are used to highlight the dramatic nature of the scenes. For a fairly substantial period,
during the slow motion scenes, the sound of the riots is faded almost to silence, with only large
crashes. Over the top of this, a slow, dramatic and depressing tune filters over the scenes of chaos.
This music helps in registering to the audience that this is a sad and altering situation that cannot be

Comparing the FIA code of Ethics with International Code of Ethics for Professional Accountants
APES 110
The APES 110 and the FIA code of ethics for professional accountants are more similar than different
even though there are a number of differences which is important. Nevertheless, this piece of writing
will focus mostly on the differences between the two codes of ethics, in a lot of cases, applying the
codes to similar information pattern will give in similar results. Furthermore there are some difference
and drafting conventions. For APES 110 it consists of three parts: Part A applies to all members. In
this part of the code it explains the overarching accountability to perform in the public interest and the

Professional accountants are required to comply with the fundamental principles of APES 110 code
and apply to the conceptual framework approach in order to determine their compliance with the
fundamental principles whenever they know that situation or relationships may compromise their
compliance. While the responsibility is on the professional accountant to do this, the bulk of APES
110 code of ethics explains how the conceptual framework works in specific situations, for example
when receiving gifts or other inducements form a superior may threaten corporate accountants
independence. (Catherine Allen, 2010). Like the FIA code, the APES 110 provides guidance for the
more ordinary but certainly not all applied situations. In all the other instance, once a threat is
recognized, the APES 110 requires a professional accountant to evaluate the significance of the threat
and if the treat is irrelevant, no further evaluation is required, or if the threat is relevant than consider
whether safeguards could eliminate or adequately reduce the threat to an acceptable level. Despite the
principles vs. rule argument, the APES 110 code of ethics does contain actually rules, in several
instance the code states that the threat are so significant that no safeguards can be functional to reduce
or eliminate treats to an acceptable level for example, an audit team member could not own stock in
his or her client and apply safeguards to ease the threat to independence because the APES 110 code
of ethics prohibits audit team members from investing in their clients. (Catherine allen,

Regulating the New Zealand Electricity Industry
Laws 437 Research and Writing Topic #2: The application of the Commerce Act to the electricity
industry Regulating the New Zealand electricity industry no longer just Ohm s law Emily Wu
Electricity is a problematic commodity. Unlike other goods and services be those vaccines, education
or tennis rackets the life of electricity is transient and without technology capable of storing it, supply
must meet demand instantaneously. Due to the inherently unreliable nature of demand forecasts (e.g.
an unexpected cold front leads to a demand spike as people turn on their heaters), the grid must also
have the capacity to reach peak demand at all times. In addition to these complicated physical
problems, the location of New Zealand s largest demand centres compared largest generation centres
means there are several infrastructural issues as well. This essay will briefly examine the industry s
regulatory history and discern how the Commerce Act 1986 fits into this regulatory context. The
ability of Part 2 to control generators in net pivotal situations will also be briefly scrutinized. Structure
of the industry The electricity industry can be split 4 ways: 1. Generation: converting other energy
sources (e.g. coal) into electrical energy. 2. Transmission: transferring electricity to local substations.
3. Distribution: delivers electricity from transmission system to consumers. 4. Retail: companies who
buy electricity from the wholesale market and sell it to

Was Roosevelt responsible for Pearl Harbour
Was President Franklin D Roosevelt responsible for the attack on Pearl Harbour?
On December 7, 1941 the infamous bombing of Pearl Harbour by the Japanese took place, but who
was really responsible? Many historians lay the blame with President Franklin D Roosevelt (FDR),
citing his approach to the war as antagonistic and inciting a Japanese attack. This report however will
highlight that the Japanese were the real antagonises, deliberately and purposely attacking the United
States (US), United Kingdom and Holland, and Pearl Harbour was but a pawn in their war plan, thus
alleviating FDR of the historical responsibility bequeathed to him over the last 70 years. The key
elements within this review focus on Japan s Pacific War plans, FDR s ... Show more content on

They had also issued radar equipment able to detect planes up to 100 miles away, in darkness, storm

idea the war had already begun and in 11 days time America would be on the forefront of a Japanese
attack.
The notice for an attack would come via an intercepted transmission on December 6 to the Japanese
Ambassador detailing a secretive 14 part message due to be transmitted and when advised, given to
the American authorities. 13 parts were received and deciphered before midnight on December 6.
Those 13 parts contained a history from Japan s perspective on what had happened in the war thus far
and how they felt about it. Part 14, the most important part, was received by the decoders at 4am on
December 7. By 10am they had deciphered and sent it to President Roosevelt. At 10.30am an addition
to the message was received. It detailed that the message was to be handed over by the Ambassador at
1pm that afternoon. This also happened to be the time for the first attack however no location was

Running head: ETHICAL ISSUES IN BUSINESS 1
Ethical Issues in Business

ETHICAL ISSUES IN BUSINESS 2 Company Q is a small local grocery store chain that has a poor
attitude toward social responsibility. After reviewing the given, I feel the chain is more committed to
profit than social responsibility. Most companies are in a business to make a profit, however, the
difference in what is considered reasonable and what is considered ridiculous comes into play. Most
people start companies because it something they are interested in and to make a living. In today s

If I were a company I would never want to advertise that those are the types of employees I have, it
would be a management issue and not a community problem. Company Q missed a few opportunities
to improve their attitude toward social responsibility. The first is closing the stores. The areas where
the stores closed were in high crime rate areas, before
ETHICAL ISSUES IN BUSINESS 3 closing the stores they could have done community outreach or
service projects to help lower the rate of crime. They could have led the establishment of a
neighborhood crime watch. They could have set up a mentorship program for teens at risk. There are a
multitude of programs they could have implemented, some could probably have been used as a tax
write off. If all of these efforts failed then I understand closing the stores. If they had to close the
stores they should have made every effort to be sure that the displaced employees were able to find a
job in another store or assisted them in being placed in another job. They also need to make every
attempt to keep the building they were using occupied or cleaned up until it is occupied. How do these
actions contribute to being socially responsible? It shows they care about their community, that even

Development of Social Networks and Their Impact on Society
The contribution of Informatics to the development of social networks and their impact on society.
With the progression of technologies that are able to overcome the obstacles of time and space (e.g.,
airplanes, cars, the Internet), one would think that these tools would be used to gain an understanding
of other cultures, meet people all over the world, maintain and strengthen familial relationships,
communicate effectively with others, and help people to become more socially strong. However, some
technological advances cause people to be distracted, overly stressed, and increasingly isolated. Many
people are involved in an abundant number of relationships through technology, but sometimes the
quantity of these associations leaves ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, a false sense of security may leave social networking site users vulnerable to security
attacks such as hacking, leaking sensitive information, and sending viruses. People trust messages sent
through social networking sites and consider them more legitimate than emails. However, social
networks do not scan messages for viruses or phishing scams; while most email accounts do scan the
messages for spam and viruses through antivirus software. The public nature of online profiles creates
security risks about which most users are unaware. Cybercriminals can gather information to be used
for identity theft from social networking profiles, such as birthdays, pet names, mothers maiden
names, names of children, and other details often used in passwords and security questions. Offline
crime may result from posting personal information, like home robberies committed after a person
announces vacation plans and alerts criminals when the home will be left unattended. In the final
analysis, I would tell, it is apparent that technology has the potential to harm or enhance your social
skills and social life. The key is to analyze how technology affects you socially. The society should
pose questions for itself, as to how technologies help us build positive, meaningful relationships, or do
technologies hinder this process? Are we better able to communicate, listen, and share because of

The Importance Of Religious Freedom In 1800 And 1900 s...
This ideology is not new to society, but is dated to around 539 B.C. and is firmly rooted in American
humanity ( Freedom of Religion Public Education ). Religious freedom is a universal human right that
protects the choice of religion someone chooses and practices. Without this civil right, people cannot
think, express or act upon with religious liberty and this can result to acts of violence, inequality and
prejudice throughout the state ( Freedom of Religion or Belief. ). A community that consists of an
array of acceptances is going to allow diversity to flourish. James Madison brings an important
transformation of 1800 s and 1900 s America through religious freedom.
To begin, this courageous man advocates for religious liberty through his choices of beliefs. Notably,
he promotes differences in the community as well as writes to defend citizens ethics. Madison has the
ability to manage diverse people occupying different beliefs. For example, he works with a variety of
religious beliefs such as Lutherans, Baptists and Presbyterians ( God In America. ). He supports
human rights because he accepts different religions; he doesn t have any discrimination towards the
different beliefs that exist in society. In addition, the man writes the Memorial and Remonstrance to
defend his choice to support the community for religious freedom ( God In America. ). In this case, he
is one of the Founding Fathers that wrote in the First Amendment, otherwise known as the Bill of
Rights.

Research Paper On Should Animals Be Kept In Zoos
Should Animals be kept in zoos? Have you ever been to a zoo? If you have then you may or may not
noticed how badly the animals are treated. Many zoos around the world are mistreating animals and
the public has no idea about it. Zoos are very unfair to animals. Would you want to be stuck in a small
area for your whole life when you could be roaming free in the wild somewhere? Probably not. Well,
that is what happens to most animals in a zoo. It is completely unfair! Animals do not deserve to be in
such small areas. It can cause serious cases of stress and depression. They teach the public that it is
okay to cage wild animals, which is definitely not true. No animal should be caged up. Therefore, zoos
should not be allowed. Many of animals in zoos suffer from stress and boredom. The zoo staff
separates animals families which can stress them out. Most zoos do not ever put the animals back in
the wild. They keep the animals in small captivities or cages for the rest of their days. Elephants kept
in zoos do not live as long as ones in the wild. This is due to stress and ... Show more content on

Zoos teach young kids as well as adults that it is okay to cage animals and that is not true at all. If
people wanted to learn about wild animals and their habits, they could go on a wildlife trip where

lovers and want the best for the animals. This is not true at all. Many zookeepers are just people
wanting a good job. Many of the animal abuse cases in zoos are from the workers not the visitors.
Many animals in zoos are provided with little to no care. If they are sick, they will just kill the animal
instead of paying to get it cared for. How is this ok? These animals could be out enjoying their life in

Mind And Its Relationship With The Mind
Mind and Its Relation to the Brain How to define minds has always been a challenge for the lovers of
wisdom since the advent of modern philosophy. The mind is arduous to define because it is
incorporeal and the only person knowing its existence is its owner. That is; the mind differs from those
familiar physical stuffs which can easily be defined in terms of their characteristics. Facing the thorny
problem, the debate between dualists and physicalists about the nature of mind and its relationship
with the body is becoming intense. In this paper I will maintain that the epiphnomenalism is not
repugnant , but rather it is squat and resilient would be the best theory to illustrate the relationship
between mind and body. The paper ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In other words, the physical activity can influence the mental but the mental stuff can never affect the
physical stuff in turn. Such definition of mind neatly explains that the mind is a kind of an excrescence
of the physical activity in the mind. Likewise, Frank Jackson takes Fred s story as an familiar example
to explain that experience is hard to obtain even one have all the physical information, and indicate the
such qualia problem is missed by physicalist. In this case, Epiphenomenalism can be used in dualism
to argue that there is a connection between physical action and the mental activity.That is;
Epiphenomenalism divides a complete action into three parts. One s actions are determined by the
physical action of the central body in the mind. During this process, the physical activities also cause
the epiphenomena we call ideas. Besides, Epiphenomenalism is also a controversial topic in the
dualism, since the mind in Epiphenomenalism is not only is a non spatial stuff, but also is an
epiphenomenon of physical action in the brain. That is why the most dualists claims that it is
unacceptable to think of the mind as a causally impotent by products of brain activities. But it does not
mean that the mind is superfluous belongings. Frank Jackson says that the mental stuff as the same as
the heavy coat which is the flaw but also is

Bureaucracy and Bureaucrats Essay
Bureaucracy and Bureaucrats
Americans depend on government bureaucracies to accomplish most of what we expect from
government, and we are oftentimes critical of a bureaucracy s handling of its responsibilities.
Bureaucracy is essential for carrying out the tasks of government. As government bureaucracies grew
in the twentieth century, new management techniques sought to promote greater efficiency. The
reorganization of the government to create the Department of Homeland Security and the Bush
administration s simultaneous push to contract out jobs to private employers raises the question as to
whether the government or the private sector can best manage our national security. Ironically, the
criticism of the bureaucracy may be a product ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Congress has delegated a significant amount of authority to the federal bureaucracy by granting the
agencies the power to draft federal regulations (rule making) and to adjudicate conflicts over these
regulations.
Presidents use the rule making power of bureaucracies to shape policy.
Before 1883, bureaucrats were political appointees the product of the spoils system.
The Civil Service Act of 1883 created the merit system by requiring that appointees to public office be
qualified for the job, thereby ending the spoils system.
The Organization of the Executive Branch
I. What are the agencies that make up the Executive Branch?
The federal bureaucracy consists of the Cabinet departments, independent agencies, government
corporations, and independent regulatory commissions.
The Cabinet departments are usually headed by a secretary (the Department of Justice is headed by the
Attorney General), but it is the bureau level that has the responsibility for interacting with the public.
Independent agencies exist outside the structure of the Cabinet departments and carry out functions
that are too costly for the private sector such as NASA.
Government corporations (the U.S. Postal Service and Amtrak) are designed to run like a business
and, we hope, generate a profit.
Independent regulatory commissions regulate some aspect

Class and Gender can Change a lot of Things Many centuries prior to the nineteenth one there has
been numerous indications of the severity in horrible treatment of women, men and children. As one
would look into any decent history book, their would be pages on chapters of the treatment of the
civilization in them. Depending on what century one was looking into determined the good or bad
treatment. However some of the most documented treatment would have to be in the nineteenth

Analysis Of The Book Win Friends And Influence People
How to Win Friends and Influence People delivers an in depth and holistic perspective on human
relationships. The premise of the novel is essentially building relationships and its aim is to help the
reader accomplish exactly what is stated in the title; win friends and influence people. Written by Dale
Carnegie and first published in 1937, the novel was a product of the Dale Carnegie Course in Effective
Speaking. His courses were so popular, publishers realized that people skills are a prized commodity
to people from all walks of life and there would be a huge market for a manual in developing this
skillset. Credited as one of the first best selling self help books ever published, this novel has served as
an exceptional resource to generations of people around the world. The longevity and relevance of the
novel is a testament to the consistency of human relations. The book was slightly revised for its later
publications so some original features have been omitted, I will be reviewing its recent 2005
publication.
What is so unique and impressive about the book is that it s written in a manner that effectively breaks
down exactly how the reader should behave and the characteristics the reader should convey. Carnegie
presents techniques on how to deal with people in your everyday life and how to carry yourself in
what seems like a high pressure situation. The organization of How to Win Friends and Influence

What Are The Great Moments At St. Francis High School Service
Great moments are born from great opportunities. As a part of the Holy Cross family, we need to take
every opportunity to help each other. This helping is also known as the service program in St. Francis
High School. In the summer of 2013, I took an opportunity to experience the understanding of Holy
Cross and Catholic. I joined the vacation bible camp and taught kids what is catholic or what we
should do as a catholic. Those moments of my service program are indelible in my mind. On the third
day of my service at the vacation bible camp as a teen leader, there was a six year old kid came and
asked me a question after the mass. He asked me, Is God really going to hear my prayer? I was
surprised a small kid asking me a question that probably no kids of his age would ask. I was thinking
for a moment and trying to think how I should answer him. I gave him positive answer which is Yes .
The kid is confused for a moment and then asked, Are you sure? I know the kid was not expecting the
answer Yes again, so I gave him another answer. I told him told every prayer will be heard by God, but
God would choose the best plan for you even though the plan is not always what we want. After I
answered, he ran away with some other kids and started playing. I believed I did a good job answering
that question. I taught a catholic kid a deeper part of Catholic Christian. This is a great moment I

French Bulldogs are amazing dogs, in my opinion, and there s lots to know about them! I ll be honest,
I don t really like dogs, and I m not a dog person. However, 2 years ago I got a French bulldog, and

silly looking, or have bad attitudes or behavior, and usually have a lot of problems, but they re still
amazing. I never used to like them, but after getting one, I love them! First of all, French bulldogs are
EXTREMLY expensive dogs, and can cost up to 2,5000 or more. It also depends on the color of the
dog. There are all kinds of different colors of Frenchies, like blue, cream, red, red and black mask, pie,
and plenty of others. Blue Frenchies, which are the most expensive, are gray and have blue tints to
their fur, and also have blue eyes. My dog is a cream, which are usually white, with cream brown
colors. There are many more colors, and too many to explain. I think the reason these dogs are so
popular and expensive is their appearance. Aside from being lovable, I think the appearance of the
French bulldog is a very important detail. Women usually like small dogs, right? Well, men usually
don t care for those tiny, girly looking dogs. However, French bulldogs are tiny dogs, but they re big,
muscular, and not girly. They are smaller than regular bulldogs, English bulldogs, and American

modeling language Slang and a corresponding database called Securities database which gives it an
edge of multi milliseconds over its rivals for similar models. * Automating the entire trade flows and
other processes: This ensures that there is lesser scope for error and is able to handle larger volumes of
trading. It is built in a modular manner thereby ensuring that different systems having different
functionalities are separate from each other and thus failure of one node may not necessarily affect the
others. * Technology for non financial systems: These include

Factors that Leads Teens to Commit Suicide
Several factors, emotional and physical, can contribute to a teen s decision to take his or her own life.
Adolescent suicide rates have no doubt risen over the past 50 years, but the question is, why? As our
world continues to advance decade by decade, modern day teenagers experience problems that are
quite different than those faced by teens from previous generations. One distinct, modern influence of
teenage suicide is social media. Naturally, most teenagers today own or have access to a smart phone,
computer, or other device that can be used to connect to the internet and view a countless number of
social websites. Social media can be entertaining and a fun, fast way to connect with friends and
family, but it also has its ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Some parents often put an extreme amount of pressure on their teen regarding his or her school work,
athletic abilities, or even body image. In other cases, parents can verbally or physically abuse their
child, creating feelings of worthlessness. The growing divorce rate in the United States may also
contribute to the increasing teen suicide rate. As of 2012, the average divorce rate in America was
approximately fifty percent, meaning that half of all U.S. marriages would legally end in divorce (
Divorce Rate 1). Divorce can have a tremendous effect on not only one family as a whole, but most
harmfully, the children. Lastly, the availability of handguns in the home has much greater
consequences than one might imagine. Averaging at forty five percent, death by the use of a firearm is
the most popular suicide method of people between the ages of ten and twenty four ( Suicide
Prevention 1).
Adolescence is the key period of development in which teens are trying to find themselves, resulting
in risk taking and exploration. Teenagers often struggle during this stage because they are not sure of
where they fit in society, school, or occasionally their own family. For example, during adolescence,
some teens come out as being homosexual. Homosexuality is not wrong; however, sometimes others
simply don t understand or frown upon young people who claim to be gay, lesbian, or bisexual. Being

being able to assist all members of the community regardless of their income bracket. He stated that
no one day is identical and that the job keeps him on his toes. The negative aspect of his job is coming
into contact with individuals of different temperaments including those with mental illness and irate
customers. George also articulated that he does not come into much contact with the public because of
his role as an overseer (G. Vargas, personal communications, February 24, 2016). The difference in
responses can be attributed to the different agendas of George Vargas and Terry Ramos. Terry has a
comprehensive view of Morris Heights because she has dwelled in that environment for many years.
She has a caring nature and wishes to make a significant change within the youth. George is less
vested in the well being of the residents because he does not live in the community. He is there to

Analysis Of The Book The Holy Spirit
One of the most prominent features of the Holy Spirit is his ability to bring about change. Whenever
the Spirit arrives, the status quo is disturbed. When Jesus promised the Holy Spirit would bring power
to those whom would receive him, the power referred to was dunamis power. Dunamis is the power to
generate the new and change the old. When the Holy Spirit arrives in a person s life, it has character
changing results.
Interestingly, 1Samuel chapter 10 tells the history of how Saul became the king of Israel. The prophet
Samuel had just anointed Saul as leader of Israel and prophesied to Saul: Then the LORD S Spirit will
come over you. You will be a different person while you prophesy with them. (Verse 6) Samuel
prophesied the Spirit upon Saul would change his character; he would become a bold, different person
.
Why is this change significant? To answer this question one has to take a closer look at the character
of Saul. His character highlights why his change was noteworthy. It is in contrast to one s own
shortcomings that the significance and magnitude of the Holy Spirit s influence become evident. This
is no different for Saul.
Saul, which means, asked for or prayed for , was the son of Kish, a Benjamite. Saul was the most
handsome man in Israel head and shoulders taller than anyone else. God told Samuel he had looked
down on his people in mercy and he heard their cry for their own king. Therefore, Samuel had to
anoint Saul as leader of Israel. This new king

The Growing Critiques of MBA Programs
Recently critiques about MBA programs have increased in number. Many believe that management
education focuses on learning of managerial skills that are needed in current ever changing business
environment. Research conducted in the past suggested that individuals with a Master s degree in
Business Administration generally perform better in managerial positions than those who do not hold
an MBA degree (Baruch Peiperl, 2000). In a dissenting view however, the author noted that an MBA
qualification does not adequately equip students with both soft and hard skills which are needed for
effective management. In addition, Researchers argue that in management education, the soft skills are
ignored and the hard skills are emphasized.
Empirical studies (Boyatzis Renio, 1989) demonstrated that MBA programme has significant positive
effect on graduates managerial competencies but they contend that did not appear effective in
enhancing soft skills. In overall view, an assessment of how MBA graduates fared after attaining MBA
degree, led (Sturges, Simpson, Altman, 2003) to deduce that the graduates become more effective
managers who display self confidence, people management and team working skills. In their study on
the motivators of choosing a management course, Nyaribo, Prakash Owino, (2012), concluded that
MBA education should combine explicit knowledge of the basic disciplines with the tacit knowledge
that comes from practice in order to provide MBA graduates with a

just seizures. Having Epilepsy and not treating it properly can be more harmful than the disorder itself.

Using The Cloud For Large Scale Data Storage
Abstract: In cloud computing and services with the rapid developments, there has been a growing
trend to use the cloud for large scale data storage. This has raised the important security issue of how
to control and prevent unauthorized access to data stored in the cloud. Access control is one of the
most important security mechanisms in cloud computing. By using the Role Based Access Control and
Attribute Based Access Control, security to the data stored in cloud is enhanced through the fine
grained access control policies. Attribute Based and Role Based Encryption techniques are used as the
main encryption primitive. Signature Based authentication is used to improve security. Fine grained
access control is provided with authentication ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The cloud aims to cut costs, and help the users focus on their core business instead of being impeded
by IT obstacles Cloud computing is so named because the information being accessed is found in the
clouds , and does not require a user to be in a specific place to gain access to it. The services are
offered from data centres all over the world, which collectively are referred to as the cloud. The idea
of the cloud is to simplify the huge network connections and computer systems involved in online
services. Cloud computing is a computing model, not a technology. In this model of computing, all the
servers, networks, applications and other elements related to data centres are made available to IT and
end users. Cloud computing is a type of computing that is comparable to grid computing. It relies on
sharing computing resources rather than having local servers or personal devices to handle
applications.
Access control is generally a policy or a procedure that allows, denies or restricts access to a system. It
also monitors and records all attempts made to access a system. Access Control may also identify
users attempting to make an unauthorized access to a system. It is a mechanism which is very much
important for providing security. Various access control models are in use, including the most common
Mandatory Access Control (MAC), Discretionary Access Control (DAC) and Role Based Access
Control (RBAC). All these models are known as identity

Cause And Effects Of Smartphone Addiction
5 6 7 Introduction: The smartphone is still a fairly new invention and is constantly being developed
and improved. This device has integrated itself into our culture and is slowly becoming essential to
our lives. The younger generation known as Millennials in the age range of 18 35 years old check their
cell phones on average about 75.6 times a day (Soto et al., 2017). This number is exceptionally high
when compared to the older generation who only check their phone around 23 times a day, according
to the same research. This paper will cover cell phone addiction and its effects on the college students
lifestyle. Addiction in this case is tied with the substance use criteria in The Diagnostic and Statistical
Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM 5). In the criteria it states that substance use is a pathological
pattern of behaviors related to use of the substance. Extremely high smartphone use can lead to these
behaviors where dependency is an issue. Symptoms of this dependence include anxiety when away
from the device, social media addiction due to ease of access, and sedentary behaviors (Lepp et al.,
2014). This excessive use is extremely prevalent in the college scene due to how much hinges on their
devices. Social media, school, communicating and entertainment all hinge on the smartphone which in
turn promotes its use creating a cycle that leads to the addiction that most students are oblivious about.
This device has a plethora of effects that range from a decrease in quality academic performance to a
complete disatisfaction with life (Lepp et al., 2015). Can this behavior be able to be controlled or
stopped using the right interventions? The following text will explore the symptoms and effects of
high smartphone usage amongst college students, and see what intervention proves to be the most
effective in solving this social issue. 3 Biological Perspective: Cell phone use produce a lot of stimuli
for the user. Research has begun bringing this to light. There is evidence that shows the relationship
between cell phone use and your neurocognitive functions. New research has shown that Cell phone
usage may be directly linked to your dopamine levels and tamper with your reward center (La Porta et
al., 2006).

How Does Orwell Use Language In Animal Farm
In the book, 2 pigs, Napoleon and Snowball fight for absolute power on their farm. They follow the
ideals of animalism (adapted from Karl Marx s communism by Orwell) and use propaganda tactics to
overthrow Mr. Jones, the owner of the farm. Orwell uses Napoleon from the allegory to show that
language can be used as an instrument to abuse power.
You can see this on page 59/the first page of chapter XI when Napoleon has just added to the required
labor on the farm, making animals also work on Sundays when they previously hadn t. The book says
in August Napoleon announced that there would be work on Sunday afternoons as well. This work
was strictly voluntary, but any animal who absented himself from it would have his rations reduced by

two words had slipped out of the animals memory. They had slipped the animals memory because
they were never there to begin with. If you refer back to pages 24 and 25, the sixth commandments
read 6. No animal shall kill any other animal. meaning that when Muriel read the sixth commandment
on page 91, the commandments had been edited. This editing was most likely done by Napoleon
himself, or one of the other pigs because none of the other animals had sentenced death or executions
on any other animals, or killed another animal because they remembered the original sixth
commandment. This doesn t only happen on page 91, but also a bit further back in the book. On page
67, Muriel is reading off another commandment. With some difficulty Muriel spelt it out. It says No
animal shall sleep in a bed with sheets. Again, back on the list of commandments, it says 4. No animal
shall sleep in a bed. And again, no animals remember a mention of sheets, because it wasn t there

Domesticating Exotic Animals
Should exotic animals be brought out of their natural habitat to please a person s wants? What does
exotic mean when pertaining to an animal? According to Merriam Webster dictionary exotic means
not living in the natural habitat the animal is accustomed to living. Taking an animal out of their
normal habitat is cruel and can be torturing. Keeping exotic animals as pets can also be cruel and
unusual punishment, not to mention the dangers that can occur. The expense to care for an exotic
animal can be very costly for instance the food, the space and vaccines if needed. Some exotic animals
can even carry diseases that can be spread to a young child or even an elderly person. Not to mention
the harm that can be done on a human at a given notice. Some states even have legalized that no one
person can own an exotic pet making the smuggling effort into the country costly or deadly to the
animal. Some states a person has to have a licensure in order to own an exotic animal but this does not
protect a person from harm or contracting a disease, this just means one can legally own an exotic
animal. Wildlife should be left just as the name states, in the wild, not as an exotic pet, in their natural
habitat.
With regard to keeping a pet, any animal can be mistreated and could possibly be a danger to their
owner, but exotic pets present some unique dangers to their owners in terms of creating some

Compare And Contrast Persia And Greece
I chose to use legalism for my vocabulary word from this chapter. Legalism is the political philosophy
which advocates for clear rules and harsh punishments when those rules are broken. This is all used as
a means of enforcing the authority of the state. Persia and Greek city states were entirely different in
certain areas of their happenings. Both of these city states were made up of Indo European people
whose legacy came directly from the first civilizations. Even though they were similar in their
population makeup they were very different when it came to the everyday happenings in the cities.

while Greece destroyed all of their own rich farmland by causing deforestation and soil erosion. One
of the biggest differences between these two states and the one I believe is the most significant was
their approach to politics. Persia was controlled by the king and said king was in charge of all politics.
Greece was one of the first places to use a system of government where the people managed the affairs
and what went on in politics. I believe that this is significant because they both took a completely

`Emma was written by Jane Austen in 1816. In all her novels, she is primarily a moral writer, striving
to establish criteria of sound judgement and right conduct in human life. In Emma she presents her
lesson so astutely and so dramatically, with such a minimum of exposition, that she places extreme
demands upon the reader s perceptiveness. Emma was her fourth novel. Lord David Cecil described it
as `Jane Austen s profoundest comedy . It has frequently been applauded for its `engaging, dear,

It is necessary for a 21st century reader of Austen s work to be aware of some of the standards in

Understanding of the society of the period helps you to place Emma Woodhouse and her development

The African Struggle Over Time
The African struggle over time has been a topic discussed by many scholars. In Walter Rodney s, How
Europe Underdeveloped Africa, he approaches the issue of how Africa s power was stolen from them.
Rodney focuses on the relationship between Africa and Europe and the effects of exploitation on the
African people by, reinforcing the conclusion that African development is possible only on the basis of
a radical break with the international capitalist system. The tone in which the book is wrote uses
Marxism, which can be controversial, to focus more on economic and political theories. Rodney

progression in Europe. Colonialism was not merely a system of exploitation but one whose essential
purpose was to repatriate the profit to the so called mother land, states Rodney. Chapter four gives an
historical background of Africa in 1885 and emphasizes on the value that came from the enslavement
of Africans. This time period holds a major significance to the underdevelopment of Africa because of
the Berlin conference. Africa was then divided up due to the scramble in which Europeans fought over
power. The fifth chapter argues that colonialism was the main factor in underveloping Africa as a
whole. Rodney argues that colonialism only did one thing, and that was steal Africa s resources and
strip them of their land. Europeans took so much from the Africans and made sure to give nothing
back which explains the type of relationship they had. In chapter six, Rodney argues against past

The Importance Of Voting To The United States Congress
If I were elected to the United States Congress the factors that would influence my decision on
whether to vote for or against a bill would be: re election, political party affiliations and, interest
groups. My main concern as every other congressmen would be to be re elected. If I really want to
continue to be a Congressmen then I would keep in mind when the next elections would be and see
how I can find my way to keep a seat in Congress.
Being elected into congress is above a lot of other political positions and it takes you away from your
state. You might still be locally active representing your state in the House of Representatives, but you
won t be as close to your voters. Meaning that voters are in mind, but that s when my next factor
comes in; Political Party Affiliation (PPA). PPA become more useful once in Congress because to
some extent you have to please your party s interest. By voting against a bill that your party wants you
to vote in favor of could be very drastic to your future plans as a Congressmen. The party that your are
affiliated with might not want to agree with you on other matter and the whole time that you serve as a
Congressmen will only be a constant argument with you and your party and even more problems will

If you don t consider interest groups as a part of your decision on whether to vote for or against a bill
is like playing roulette. You don t know what will happen in the next elections, you won t know what
the outcome would be, unless you have polling data. That s why I would allow myself to be
influenced by interest groups. By voting in favor of a bill because of interest groups means more
votes, thus higher chances of being

Blood In Crime Scene Investigation
Blood
When it comes to crime scene investigation, the most visually spectacular aspect is likely blood
spatter. From Dexter to CSI, the the method by which blood leaves the body and interacts with the
environment has caught the imagination of writers, viewers, and scientists alike. The information we
can glean from blood includes position of victim or perpetrator within a scene to information about the
blood donor him or herself. There are many different methods investigators use to analyze this
evidence, but the all have one thing in common: the all involve blood.
What is Blood?
Blood is the major fluid that moves throughout the body, carrying nourishment to tissues and cells,
while helping us maintain body temperature and body pH. The circulatory

Clarification Request Strategy
Clarification: when using the clarification request strategy, the teacher basically delivers a message to
the student, indicating that there s an error in his utterance, so that the teacher s repeating is required.
When I teach English, I make extensive use of this method, because it (similar to explicit correction)
immediately signals the student that he made a mistake, and that he should correct himself. Another
reason I think this strategy works, is that it puts the student in a situation where you are indicating that
he had made a mistake, but you, as a teacher, do not explain to him what it is, but let him deal with
this question himself, and correct himself alone.
Repetition: this strategy, of repeating the student error in other intonation (usually a questioning one)
to alert the student that he made a mistake, is a significant and beneficial strategy, especially when the
amendment is made in front of the class. Humans can identify intonation, as well as the ... Show more

By indicating mistakes in the student s utterance with explicit correction, the teacher can correct the
students to use to right form. explicit correction helped me a lot when I started to learn the Dutch
language. I learned in a group of five people, and at the beginning of each meeting, everyone in the
group had to say a sentence about himself. When one of us was wrong syntax, grammar or vocabulary,
the instructor would correct him, to understand where was the mistake and how to correct it. In
addition, I think that explicit correction is a good and meaningful learning strategy, because the
students get a real time correction, in context to what they read. That kind of correction allows the
teacher to ask the student to repeat what he said but in the correct

Dentistry as a profession over the years has evolved...
Dentistry as a profession over the years has evolved rapidly in light of new scientific evidence.
Rapidly evolving science and technology have implemented changes within dentistry as evidenced by
new standards and guidelines being produced by nationally recognised associations including National
Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE), Faculty of General Dental Practice (FGDP) and
Scottish Intercollegiate Guidelines Network (SIGN) in Scotland, in provision of new scientific
evidence. The latest standards and guidelines produced, endorse everyday clinical practice through
evidence based dentistry (REF). All dental professionals as part of continued professional
development are expected to keep to date on relevant guidelines and ... Show more content on

Since the inception of the National Health Service (NHS) in 1948, regular six monthly check ups at
the general dental practice have been common (REF). However the patient should not have
radiographs taken routinely based solely because of time elapsed since previous examination. X rays
should only be taken after a thorough clinical examination and would be justified after a caries risk
assessment was undertaken with the patient categorised as being high, moderate or low caries risk
(REF).
In the event that after a thorough clinical examination and an updated medical history, the patient is
categorised as being high caries risk, FGDP guidelines support the taking of bitewing radiographs in
both children and adults at the initial examination. Six monthly bitewing radiographs are advised for
individuals who fall into the high caries risk status until no new or active lesions become apparent
(REF). However it is important not to take radiographs frequently and to reassess the patients risk
category, supported by a clinical examination and an updated medical history in order to justify using
this interval again (REF).
For the moderate caries risk

The Moral Argument for the Existence of God Essay example
The Moral Argument for the Existence of God Kant did NOT put forward a moral argument and
anyone who said he does is wrong!!!! Kant rejected all attempts to argue from the world to God, he
regarded such an exercise as impossible. However he thought that God was a POSTULATE of
practical reason. If you share Kant s assumptions, then it becomes necessary to assume that there is a
God. Kant s reasoning.... 1. All human beings desire and seek happiness 2. All human beings ought to
be moral and do their duty 3. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Of course, it may well be that the Universe is not fair Kant had a deep sense of trust in the fairness of
the Universe and if this is rejected then the postulates are not needed. Argument from absolute moral
values =================================== A different approach to that of Kant comes
from those who argue from the existence of some absolute moral values. Rashdall put forward this
argument but it was developed by Sorley. Sorley claims: 1. There is an absolute moral law. Sorley
supports this claim with the following reasons: 2. People are conscious of an absolute moral law 3.
People acknowledge the demands that this law makes on them even if they break it 4. No finite mind
grasps the whole of what this represents 5. Ideas exist only in minds 6. Therefore there must be a
supreme mind, beyond all finite minds, in which this absolute moral law exists. Sorley claims that
unlike Natural Law which is descriptive of human nature, the Moral Law is prescriptive. It describes
not what IS but what SHOULD BE. The Natural Law approach to Ethics stems

Poverty In The Inner Cities Essay
The question or problem I would solve would have to be the war on poverty and the streets influence
on children in the inner cities of America. The amount of people in America are hungry and it seems
as if the inner cities are the focal point for those terribly high numbers. I would attend the all the food
drives ad even possibly start a food bank and help families feed their young children who have no way
of providing for their selves. I would even maybe visit their schools to help them pursue their dreams
no matter how crazy because, isn t that what America is all about? Another thing that could be helped
is making everyone feel like they have someone. When I was younger and in middle school and
elementary school I had plenty of acquaintances

In other cases, parents can verbally or physically abuse their child, creating feelings of worthlessness. The growing divorce rate in the United States may also contribute to the increasing teen suicide rate. As of 2012, the average divorce rate in America was approximately fifty percent, meaning that half of all U.S. marriages would legally end in divorce ( Divorce Rate 1). • 24. Analysis Of The Book The Holy Spirit One of the most prominent features of the Holy Spirit is his ability to bring about change. Whenever the Spirit arrives, the status quo is disturbed. When Jesus promised the Holy Spirit would bring power to those whom would receive him, the power referred to was dunamis power. Dunamis is the power to generate the new and change the old. When the Holy Spirit arrives in a person s life, it has character changing results. Interestingly, 1Samuel chapter 10 tells the history of how Saul became the king of Israel. The prophet Samuel had just anointed Saul as leader of Israel and prophesied to Saul: Then the LORD S Spirit will come over you. You will be a different person while you prophesy with them. (Verse 6) Samuel prophesied the Spirit upon Saul would change his character; he would become a bold, different person . Why is this change significant? To answer this question one has to take a closer look at the character of Saul. His character highlights why his change was noteworthy. It is in contrast to one s own shortcomings that the significance and magnitude of the Holy Spirit s influence become evident. This is no different for Saul. Saul, which means, asked for or prayed for , was the son of Kish, a Benjamite. Saul was the most handsome man in Israel head and shoulders taller than anyone else. God told Samuel he had looked down on his people in mercy and he heard their cry for their own king. Therefore, Samuel had to anoint Saul as leader of Israel. This new king ... Many believe that management education focuses on learning of managerial skills that are needed in current ever changing business environment. Research conducted in the past suggested that individuals with a Master s degree in Business Administration generally perform better in managerial positions than those who do not hold an MBA degree (Baruch Peiperl, 2000). In a dissenting view however, the author noted that an MBA qualification does not adequately equip students with both soft and hard skills which are needed for effective management. In addition, Researchers argue that in management education, the soft skills are ignored and the hard skills are emphasized. Empirical studies (Boyatzis Renio, 1989) demonstrated that MBA programme has significant positive effect on graduates managerial competencies but they contend that did not appear effective in enhancing soft skills. In overall view, an assessment of how MBA graduates fared after attaining MBA degree, led (Sturges, Simpson, Altman, 2003) to deduce that the graduates become more effective managers who display self confidence, people management and team working skills. In their study on the motivators of choosing a management course, Nyaribo, Prakash Owino, (2012), concluded that MBA education should combine explicit knowledge of the basic disciplines with the tacit knowledge that comes from practice in order to provide MBA graduates with a ... This device has integrated itself into our culture and is slowly becoming essential to our lives. The younger generation known as Millennials in the age range of 18 35 years old check their cell phones on average about 75.6 times a day (Soto et al., 2017). This number is exceptionally high when compared to the older generation who only check their phone around 23 times a day, according to the same research. This paper will cover cell phone addiction and its effects on the college students lifestyle. Addiction in this case is tied with the substance use criteria in The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM 5). In the criteria it states that substance use is a pathological pattern of behaviors related to use of the substance. Extremely high smartphone use can lead to these behaviors where dependency is an issue. Symptoms of this dependence include anxiety when away from the device, social media addiction due to ease of access, and sedentary behaviors (Lepp et al., 2014). This excessive use is extremely prevalent in the college scene due to how much hinges on their devices. Social media, school, communicating and entertainment all hinge on the smartphone which in turn promotes its use creating a cycle that leads to the addiction that most students are oblivious about. This device has a plethora of effects that range from a decrease in quality academic performance to a complete disatisfaction with life (Lepp et al., 2015). Can this behavior be able to be controlled or stopped using the right interventions? The following text will explore the symptoms and effects of high smartphone usage amongst college students, and see what intervention proves to be the most effective in solving this social issue. 3 Biological Perspective: Cell phone use produce a lot of stimuli for the user. Research has begun bringing this to light. There is evidence that shows the relationship between cell phone use and your neurocognitive functions. When one of us was wrong syntax, grammar or vocabulary, the instructor would correct him, to understand where was the mistake and how to correct it. In addition, I think that explicit correction is a good and meaningful learning strategy, because the students get a real time correction, in context to what they read. That kind of correction allows the teacher to ask the student to repeat what he said but in the correct ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Since the inception of the National Health Service (NHS) in 1948, regular six monthly check ups at the general dental practice have been common (REF). However the patient should not have radiographs taken routinely based solely because of time elapsed since previous examination. X rays should only be taken after a thorough clinical examination and would be justified after a caries risk assessment was undertaken with the patient categorised as being high, moderate or low caries risk (REF). In the event that after a thorough clinical examination and an updated medical history, the patient is categorised as being high caries risk, FGDP guidelines support the taking of bitewing radiographs in both children and adults at the initial examination. Six monthly bitewing radiographs are advised for individuals who fall into the high caries risk status until no new or active lesions become apparent (REF). • 43. The Moral Argument for the Existence of God Essay example The Moral Argument for the Existence of God Kant did NOT put forward a moral argument and anyone who said he does is wrong!!!! Kant rejected all attempts to argue from the world to God, he regarded such an exercise as impossible. However he thought that God was a POSTULATE of practical reason. Of course, it may well be that the Universe is not fair Kant had a deep sense of trust in the fairness of the Universe and if this is rejected then the postulates are not needed. Argument from absolute moral values =================================== A different approach to that of Kant comes from those who argue from the existence of some absolute moral values. Rashdall put forward this argument but it was developed by Sorley. Sorley claims: 1. There is an absolute moral law. Sorley supports this claim with the following reasons: 2. People are conscious of an absolute moral law 3. People acknowledge the demands that this law makes on them even if they break it 4. No finite mind grasps the whole of what this represents 5. Ideas exist only in minds 6. Therefore there must be a supreme mind, beyond all finite minds, in which this absolute moral law exists. Sorley claims that unlike Natural Law which is descriptive of human nature, the Moral Law is prescriptive. It describes not what IS but what SHOULD BE. The Natural Law approach to Ethics stems ... I would even maybe visit their schools to help them pursue their dreams no matter how crazy because, isn t that what America is all about? Another thing that could be helped is making everyone feel like they have someone. When I was younger and in middle school and elementary school I had plenty of acquaintances ...
