Where can you grab some grub when SLC airport expands the B gates?

When travelers trek through the Salt Lake City International Airport’s new Central Tunnel starting in 2024, they will not only have a shorter walk to concourse B, they also will have access to new gates and plenty of grub at the other end.

Airport officials this week announced a slate of shops and restaurants scheduled to open when the airport’s Phase 3 — a nine-gate eastward extension of concourse B — wraps up.

“The new airport has received national accolades for our concessions program,” Bill Wyatt, executive director of Salt Lake City’s Department of Airports, said in a news release. “These unique restaurants and shops are expected to garner five-star reviews as well.”

Travelers looking for a bite or something to sip will have access to Utah-based Sunday’s Best; fast-food chain Freddy’s Frozen Custard & Steakburgers; national chain Maggiano’s Little Italy; Bambuza Vietnam Kitchen; The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf; and Thirst, a soda shop based in the Beehive State.

Shoppers, meanwhile, will be able to peruse Utah-based apparel and outdoor gear company Cotopaxi’s new location; convenience stores Relay and Travel Right; an art and jewelry shop called The Canyon; Salt Lake City-based Weller Book Works; and tech accessory shop iStore Express.

The first five gates of the phase will open in fall 2024, followed by another four gates a year later.

The airport’s most recent expansion opened five new gates on concourse A last month.

Additional gates on concourse A are expected to open in August, with the wing’s remaining 13 gates scheduled to open Oct. 31.

When passengers going through security are finally able to reach the B gates through the Central Tunnel later next year, they will be greeted by the old airport’s famous world map in a new plaza.
