The TOM726 flight was grounded due to the weather conditions experienced as it left Newcastle Airport.

The weather was then impacting the performance of the aircraft.

And the Boeing 787 had to land to collect extra fuel to continue their onward journey.

The flight continued onto Cancun as normal.

A TUI Spokesperson said: "We would like to apologise to customers for the disruption to flight TOM726 from Newcastle to Cancun.

"Unfortunately, due to weather conditions at Newcastle Airport affecting the performance of the aircraft, the flight was forced to make a stop at Glasgow in order to pick additional fuel for the onward journey.

"The flight has now left Glasgow and is on its way to Cancun."

It comes after a TUI flight was forced to make an emergency landing just minutes after take-off after it was deemed "too unsafe" to fly.

The flight departed Edinburgh Airport on Friday, May 26, and was heading to Corfu, in Greece.

But the aircraft was forced to abandon its flight path after it was 'too heavy' to gain enough height to fly.

After it took off, it quickly circled the Firth of Forth before turning back and returning to Edinburgh Airport.
