South Stokes’ Sydney Patterson signs her letter-of-intent to play softball at Wingate University in front of family, coaches, and school administrations.


WALNUT COVE — Last October South Stokes’ Sydney Patterson committed to play softball at Wingate University. On Wednesday, the senior made it official and signed her letter-of-intent to play at the school.

“I’m really excited, a little nervous and anxious,” said Patterson with a huge grin. “I’ve been waiting for so long since committing last year. Signing with them, it just felt right. I went to a softball camp, and everything just clicked with the coaches and the team, and I fell in love with the school.
