Even if other Argentine airports are listed as "international," expect those outside the capital, Cordoba, and Mendoza to be quite small. For this reason, they can be either extremely efficient or quite slow depending on how many flights are operating that day. Overall, most airports in Argentina are clean and have free Wi-Fi. You can negotiate the price, as drivers will not use the meter. Ezeiza is Argentina’s largest airport and the primary international airport servicing the capital city, Buenos Aires. Located 20 miles from the city center, it offers public transportation but no subway line to reach the city. Bus options include Tienda Leon (an airport shuttle which goes to Retiro), the city’s public bus system, and Minibus Ezeiza. The minibuses, called “combis” are the best combination of convenience, comfort, and price if you are going to San Telmo or Microcentro. However, they do not operate on evenings and weekends. Uber is the most efficient, but your driver will likely ask you to pay in cash (as Uber operations are a gray area in Argentina) and meet them outside of Terminal C or on the far side of Terminal A. Aeroparque is the most centrally located airport in Buenos Aires, making it the easiest to reach from neighborhoods within the city limits. Full of more appetizing food options than Ezeiza, it’s Buenos Aires’ most beautiful airport with views of the Rio de La Plata glimmering through its glass hallway. Palomar is the smallest airport servicing Buenos Aires and only has three airlines operating out of it: Jetsmart, Jetsmart Argentina, and Flybondi. Plan at least an hour for travel time from Buenos Aires to the airport. Uber will be the most efficient way to reach it, but Tienda Leon, public buses, and taxis are available as well. It’s a trek out of town, but you’ll be greeted by lots of green spaces and a food truck once you arrive. The El Palomar station of the San Martín railway line is only 10 blocks away, which easily connects you to Palermo and Retiro. Distance to Centro Cívico: A taxi to the Centro Cívico (Civic Center) will take approximately 20 minutes and cost about 1,000 to 1,200 pesos ($18.50 to $17.40). Bariloche’s airport is small, easy to navigate, and has delicious chocolates, jams, and other regional products for sale. Check in and boarding are all on the first floor. If you have just landed and want an efficient, cheap option to get into town, ask other passengers if they would like to split a taxi. It’s a common practice, as is hitchhiking in the region. Distance to Parque Nacional Iguazú: A taxi to Parque Nacional Iguazú (Iguazu National Park) will take approximately 15 minutes and cost about 500 to 650 pesos ($8.70 to $10). Tiny, efficient, and with few lines, this airport is known for being easy to navigate. The city’s public buses service the airport, but be prepared to wait a long time for one. Taking an Uber or taxi will be the most efficient option for getting to the city or national park itself. You can also take a minibus to the city center for 150 pesos ($2.30). Pack snacks, as there aren’t many options for purchasing food. A medium-sized airport, El Plumerillo is efficient, modern, and has daily flights to and from Buenos Aires and Santiago, Chile. Uber and Cabify both function there, but there are no private shuttle companies. If you take a public bus to the city center, expect the ride to be at least one and half hours. For an international airport, Pajas Blancas, is fairly small. Usually uncrowded and efficient, you can buy coffee and pastries there but not much else. Public bus number 25 passes through the airport, though you might have to wait 30 minutes for it. The airport shuttle, Aerobus, is another option, but you will need to purchase a transportation card called “Red Bus” before you alight. You can purchase the card at the kiosk in the departures terminal. Welcome to the world’s southernmost international airport! Ushuaia’s rustic airport is small and sometimes slow. However, it’s only 2.5 miles from the city center, making transportation to and from quite easy via a taxi or remis. Public buses do not go to the airport. If you really want to, you could walk into town in about an hour. Check that your flight time has not changed, as flight delays and schedule changes are common here.
