Calgary International Airport is one of Canada’s largest airports and as such sees millions of visitors to Calgary each year. The airport is a hub for both Air Canada and WestJet and offers direct flights within Canada and to the U.S., Mexico, the Caribbean, Europe, Asia, and Central America. The airport is also home to two in-terminal hotels, a variety of restaurants and shops, several lounges and a new international terminal, making traveling through the airport a convenient experience.

Know Before You Go

The Calgary airport has two terminals: one for domestic flights and one for international flights. The domestic terminal has three concourses, A, B and C, while the international terminal is home to Concourse E for flights into the U.S. and Concourse D for other international flights.

To connect between the domestic and international terminals, travelers can use the YYC LINK. There are four stations from Concourse A to Concourse D/E and the LINK travels along a dedicated route that not only offers a convenient way to get from one concourse to another, but you might catch a glimpse of the Rockies while you ride. There are a total of 20 vehicles which can each seat 10 passengers. It takes about 12 minutes to connect from Concourse A to D/E.

In addition, the Connections Corridor links the secure areas of the terminals and allows passengers to connect between the domestic and international terminals via moving walkways, a pedestrian walkway and the YYC LINK shuttle.

Calgary Airport Parking

If you need to park at YYC, Parkade 1 (P1) and Parkade 2 (P2) both have short- and long-term parking. You can find short-term parking on the ground level of each parking structure, with a maximum stay of 30 days. Hourly, daily, or weekly parking is available on levels P2, P4, P5, P6 and P7. The maximum parking duration is 60 days. For those flying Domestic, the closest lot is Parkade 1 (P1), while if you're flying to the U.S. or internationally, the closest parking is Parkade 2 (P2).

Access to P2 is via the "Through Road" at the entrance to P1. After parking in P2, head to the International Terminal via the Plus 30 Skywalk or the Pedestrian Tunnel.

Note that it's a good idea to allow for additional time to park during peak periods (Wednesdays, Thursdays, holidays, and over long weekends).

Driving Directions

From Calgary, those driving to the airport will want to head east along Memorial Drive and then north on the QE2 Highway (Highway 2), which is to the west of the airport. From there, follow the signs to the terminal.

Public Transportation and Taxis

Bus: Getting to and from YYC can be done via public transportation fairly easily. Calgary Transit provides bus service from the airport to various parts of the city with bus stops at the Domestic Terminal and the International Terminal. 

If you need to board the bus at the Domestic Terminal, exit Door 2 on the Arrivals Level, cross the roadway and stand at Pillar 7. To board the bus from the International Terminal, you’ll need to exit Door 15 on the Arrivals Level, cross the roadway and stand at Pillar 32. Ticket vending machines at both stops accept debit, credit card, or cash. Alternatively, you can buy bus tickets at the 7-Eleven stores on Arrivals near Door 1 and Door 10, as well as the Sandstone Pharmacy on the Departures Level of the Domestic Terminal.

Taxis: Taxi service is available at YYC around the clock with taxi stands located on the Arrivals Level of both the domestic and international terminals. Taxi fares are based on meter rates and the approximate fare to downtown Calgary is between $40 and $45 (depending on traffic).

Several airport hotels also offer courtesy shuttle service on the Arrivals Level, across the roadway at bus bays 16, 17, and 37.

Where to Eat and Drink

There’s no shortage of places to stop for a meal, snack, or drink at YYC, whether you’re looking for something quick on the go, or would prefer a full service experience. Fast food and grab-and-go options include familiar options like Starbucks, Subway, Chili’s, Tim Horton’s, Thai Express, and more.

If you’re looking for something light and healthy, Made Food offers hearty salads and grain bowls, and you can also find healthier grab and go options at La Prep Daily Fresh. You can also get your juice and smoothie fix at Jugo Juice. For something a bit more upscale, choose from a list of over 80 wines at Vin Room YYC Airport alongside globally inspired tapas or tuck into elevated comfort foods at The Kitchen by Wolfgang Puck.

Where to Shop

Calgary’s airport is home to more than 135 shops and services should you find yourself with some time to shop before your flight. Several Hudson stores located throughout the airport offer magazines, snacks, books, travel accessories, drinks, and other convenience items. If you need to pick up any pharmacy items, you can do so at Sandstone Pharmacies at YYC, and there are two Benefit Cosmetics kiosks for any beauty or skincare items you might need before your board. Cococo Chocolaterie Bernard Callebaut offers locally made gourmet chocolate, while you can grab a last-minute pair of cowboy boots or other Western wear at Lammle's Western Wear.

How to Spend Your Layover

Depending on how much time you have between flights, YYC has two in-terminal hotels to make a long layover easier and more comfortable. These include the Marriott In-Terminal Hotel and the Delta Airport Hotel.

For shorter layovers (or for anyone looking for some pre-flight relaxation), the OraOxygen Wellness Spa has two locations that provide massage treatments, oxygen therapy, nail and waxing services, and other treatments.

If you are traveling with children, there are children’s play areas located throughout the terminal. Look for the play areas at Gates D70, D80, E70, and E82.

Wi-Fi and Charging Stations

Need to get online? YYC offers free Wi-Fi throughout the terminal. You can access the Wi-Fi by simply selecting the "YYC-Free-Wifi" network on your device of choice. Charging areas can be found throughout the airport.

Calgary Airport Tips & Facts

While most lounges require passes or other stipulations, you can find a free quiet area located beside Gate A24 in the Domestic Terminal, equipped with cozy loungers and seating, as well as courtesy yoga equipment should you want to get in some pre-flight stretching.

Feeling anxious or a bit stressed before your flight? Even if you’re a calm traveler, you might want to know about Pre-Board Pals, a partnership between the Calgary Airport Authority and Calgary’s Pet Access League Society (PALS) that brings dogs to the airport to comfort passengers or just bring a smile to their faces. Dogs and their volunteer handlers roam the terminal and greet visitors during peak travel times, Wednesday to Sunday.

For something a little different in terms of airport beverage offerings, the Belgian Beer Café is an authentic bar and restaurant with a wide variety of Belgian beers served alongside Belgian-inspired dishes.

It’s also worth nothing that Vin Room YYC Airport in Concourse D offers a complimentary business centre, plugins, and USB ports at tables, and they also have an in-terminal dog-friendly patio if you happen to be traveling with your pup.
