Recap

S.W.A.T. busts a prescription drug lab and Hondo is trying to figure out where 500g of drugs are. He has a theory about who is behind the stash houses but no one is listening.

Deacon, Luca and Chris head the S.W.A.T. Academy training at HQ and after a relay race, announce the annual talent show to see how commited recruits are to the performance. The trio brings up Chris' frisbee routine with Champ, Luca's air guitar and Rocker's surprise rendition of My Heart Will Go On.

Luca meets a recruit, Officer Cabrera, in the kitchen, who confesses she won't be taking part in the talent show because she's scared. He gives her advice about how to get over the stage fright, noting that it's all about facing your fears.

As hospital staff are eating outside, there are gunshots and everyone tries to rush inside. Though some are not so lucky. When 20-Squad gets to the hospital, Hondo is told that Fred Hill is most likely the suspect as he's made nonstop threats to the hospital. His son, Isaac, suffered from a rare kidney disease and due to the severity of his condition, the board wouldn't go through with the transplant. He died a month ago.

It's later discovered that Hill's wife died two years ago from the same kidney disease. He hasn't been the same since his son's death as it's taken a toll on him.

Deacon gets a call that no one came to pick up Lila from school and they couldn't get in touch with Annie, who usually takes care of pickup. He leaves to pick up his daughter and find out just what happened.

Street gets off the phone and tells Chris about Chaplain Adams who was one of the four shot at the hospital. He grew close to him when he was laid up after his surgery and Chris tells him to just keep the faith that Chaplain Adams will be just fine.

Annie comes home and tries to apologize to Deacon. She was busy digging around for Ortiz and got too into it but she and Deacon get into a fight about it since Deacon has been busy at work and had to leave in the middle of a case to pickup Lila.

Raymont Harris meets Hondo at HQ and tells him about his new business to serve healthy foods around LA. However, Hondo tells Raymont to reconsider doing business with Saint, who is up in shady business. Raymont tells Hondo that people in LA swear by him. Hondo tells Raymont to trust him, Saint will just throw away his business. He will find an investor to replace Saint.

The squad interviews someone on the hospital board and it's discovered that Hill found a way to make the transplant happen on the black market. However, the transplant board caught wind the donation wasn't legit so they refused to cover the procedure.

Hicks talks to Deacon about why he was so on edge, asking him about his kids and Deacon tells Hicks about the Ortiz case and how Annie has taken the lead. Hicks gives him advice that is along the lines of, "Happy wife, happy life."

It's found out that people have been trafficting organs, harvesting organs for profit, which is how Hill found a kidney for Isaac. The surgery did go through but Isaac's body ended up rejecting the kidney. Dr. Zachary Floyd is the one who did the surgery, and now he's next on Hill's hit list.

Hill made a video about going after Dr. Floyd in Encino, and holds him and his receptionist hostage on live television as 20-Squad is on the way.

Hondo tries to talk down Hill and while doing so, a switch is discovered on Hill and his gun. It's a dead man's switch. If they shoot Hill, Dr. Floyd dies too. Hondo figures out the best way to separate the two is a trap zone so Deacon talks to Hill and tries to calm him down as 20-Squad leaves for an open stretch of road not far from where they are.

They get into position and after Hill and D. Floyd pass a sign, they take Hill down and safely get Dr. Floyd away from him and disarm the dead man's switch.

The S.W.A.T. Academy talent show commences with hula hooping and Officer Cabrera singing 500 Miles. Though when she is clearly afraid, Luca joins in and the two are the favorites of the night. Deacon, meanwhile, leaves the talent show to be with Annie and apologizes to her. Annie admits she's frustrated with herself as well and has been taking it out on Deacon. Deacon promises to cut back on overtime hours to be with her and the kids more.

Street visits Chaplain Adams in the hospital, just as he did for him.

Hondo brings up Raymont with Hicks, and his concerns about Saint. However, there isn't much they can do but Hicks tells him to not worry.

S.W.A.T. Season 5 Episode 15 Quotes

There are gonna be moments in your S.W.A.T. career that feel terrifying, but you got to learn to push through that fear to get that job done and trust that your teammates will have your back as you do it. That's really what this talent show is about.

Luca

Street: We got kind of close after my liver surgery.
Chris: I didn't think you were religious.
Street: When I was laid up, that man spent hours by my bedside. I think he knew I was feeling lonely and scared. We'd just talk about all kinds of things – family, baseball, best dive bars. For a priest, he'd kind of been around the block, you know?
Chris: Religious or not, I think right now you gotta believe Chaplain Adams will pull through.
Street: Have a little faith? You sound like him right now.
Chris: I'll take that as a compliment.
