The R44 Raven (I/II) is an outstanding four-seat, fuel-injected helicopter that delivers the performance and flight characteristics of many of its pricier turbine-powered competitors. Featuring a 109 kts cruise speed, hydraulic controls, RPM governor and air conditioning, the Robinson R44 is a fast and comfortable cross-country helicopter powered by the reliable Lycoming (O/IO)-540 engine.

Two of our R44 Raven I and IIs are IFR-certified (for training purposes only) with Garmin 430Ws for GPS departure, en-route and instrument approach procedures. These receivers are equipped with WAAS (Wide Area Augmentation System) enabling us to teach GPS instrument approach procedures with vertical navigation (APV).

We are part way through the process of converting our R44s from conventional flight instruments to Garmin G500H glass cockpits with ADS-B Out/In capability, terrain awareness systems, real-time weather, and traffic display. Three of our R44’s are also equipped for our Night Vision Goggles Course.

Universal Helicopters is the only Bell Certified Training Facility (CTF) in the world for theBell 206 series helicopter.

Bell-Certified 206 Training

Originally introduced to the commercial marketplace in 1967 as the Bell 206A, the series has a longstanding legacy that spans more than four decades, making it the world’s third most-produced helicopter in history. In 1977, Bell introduced the 206B3 with a modified tail rotor and more powerful Allison 250-C20B engine.

Although Bell Textron discontinued manufacturing of the 206B3 in 2010 to make room for their own Bell 505, they continue to support the more than 7000 206s operating worldwide.

In 2019, Bell entered into an exclusive contract with Universal Helicopters, assigning us the designation of Bell Certified Training Facility (CTF), and making us the only flight school in the world privileged to conduct Initial and Recurrent Bell-Certified Courses for the Bell 206 series helicopter.

One of the most significant benefits of flight simulation is the ability to practice in-flight emergency procedures without the threat of any real danger. A simulator is just the place to practice identifying, assessing, and mitigating risk without ever leaving the ground. Additional benefits include honing communication and navigational procedures in a low-stress environment and (because some simulator time will credit toward your total aeronautical experience) cost-effectiveness!

Universal Flight Concepts operates two Softek Sim flight training simulators. Our class-specific, FAA Certified Level 5 FTDs (Flight Training Devices) are built to replicate the instruments, equipment, and controls of a Tecnam P2010 and P2006T, respectively, with a full range of capabilities to represent all ground and flight conditions.

Theses simulators are utilized by our Airline Pilot Career Program students. Some simulator time can be applied toward total flight time for your Private ASEL, Commercial ASEL, Instrument Rating, CFI ASEL, and CFII Rating under our FAA-approved Part 141 certificates.
