KOLAM- Art with a Simple Truth

Our need for creativity and divine inspiration is high when our resources are minimal. My sister-in-law came into my room asking me for a Rangoli pattern to be drawn at the entrance of the house as part of Diwali festivities. Her only prerequisite, “I have just two colours, so give me a design that can be made with red and white only."

I thought for a minute and decided to draw KOLAM. It can be executed using just a single colour too, with intricate interwoven pattern which can make one delve deep into soulful thoughts and musings.

Sometimes complex realizations happen in the simplest of context. 

Kolam is intrinsically made with creating a pattern which starts at a point and ends at the same point without breaking the continuity of design.

The patterns are always unique as the person just follows his inner psyche and inspiration to make it. 

The Kolam pattern made me realize that everything in this manifested universe is connected to every other thing else either clearly or subtly by a force not yet revealed to many. 

Only with a peaceful and tranquil mind can we experience a simple truth, that it's all one.Everything in this universe is connected with each other, everything is flowing through one another in this transient manifestation. My heart fills up with gratitude for the Guru who has shown me the way to go inward and experience the continuum of life.

My Salutations to that Guru who revealed to me that Truth, is unfragmented, infinite, timeless and divine, and that, which pervades the entire universe – movable or unmovable.
