Hanoi, 3 July 2019 –Vietnam Airlines hosted an event to welcome its first flights to and from Sheremetyevo International Airport as the carrier moved its operation from Domodedovo airport to this airport staring 2 July 2019, further enhancing connectivity between Vietnam and Russia.

Upon arrival, flight VN63 from Hanoi to Moscow was welcomed by a water salute and passengers were greeted with bread and salt as a Russian tradition by Russian girls in national costume. On the same day, Vietnam Airlines also celebrated the first flight VN62 departing from Sheremetyevo. Ambassador of Vietnam to Russia Ngo Duc Manh, representatives of Vietnam Airlines and Sheremetyevo Airport attended the cutting ribbon ceremony.

The airport move has provided passengers greater choice and flexibility when travelling to domestic destinations in Russia as well as Europe when combining with Vietnam Airlines' and Aeroflot’s vast networks as well as other airlines operating at Sheremetyevo Airport. Vietnam Airlines and Aeroflot are 4-star rated airlines and have codeshare flights on both domestic and international routes.

Vietnam Airlines offers three direct Moscow – Hanoi flights per week, operated on state-of-the-art Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft. On this occasion, Vietnam Airlines offers 15% off on Economy and Business class fares on Vietnam – Russia route. This is applicable to tickets issued from 2 July to 31 July 2019 with terms and conditions of departure date and booking class applied. Heinemann's Sheremetyevo duty-free shops also offer a 20% discount for Vietnam Airlines’ passengers from 2 July to 31 August 2019. Titanium Gold, Platinum Lotusmile members can also bring 01 additional free baggage (23kg) travelling on this route.
