As Thanksgiving approaches, the countdown to the busiest travel days of the year begins. Two women you’d last expect to catch stuck in line at the departures terminal, however, are Queen Rania of Jordan and Queen Letizia of Spain. And yet the two royals were seen earlier today at the international airport in Madrid looking equally chic, wearing complementary looks that heralded a return to the heyday of dressing for air travel.

Drawing on the style of past icons including Jackie Kennedy and Princess Grace, these modern monarchs have shown a penchant for ladylike silhouettes, from sheath dresses to skirtsuits. Today, Queen Letizia stunned in a red bouclé dress that echoed the colors of her country’s flag, while Queen Rania slipped on a tweed jacket with powder blue trim that corresponded to the cut of her A-line frock. And as with any travel ensemble, the accessories were key—in the form of clever, coordinating clutches and simple stilettos—for perfectly polished looks ready for any destination.
