1. WARNING<br />

1.1 Large bird population around AD.<br />

1.2 Owing to the terrain profi le to the South of<br />

Edinburgh, GPWS warnings are possible<br />

on intermediate approach to Runway 06, 24<br />

and 30 from the South.<br />

1.3 Aircraft departing Rwy 12 should ensure<br />

that they are aligned correctly on RCL and<br />

not on yellow Taxiway CL which is situated<br />

top the North of RCL.<br />

2. RUNWAY RESTRICTIONS<br />

2.1 Runway 12/30 is a visual runway only,<br />

but not available when aircraft parked on<br />

overspill apron.<br />

Not available nightly:<br />

MON-FRI 2100-0630LT, SAT 18-09LT and<br />

SUN 18-0630LT.<br />

3. TAXIWAY RESTRICTIONS<br />

using ILS shall not descend below 3000ft<br />

before intercepting GP and shall not fl y<br />

below it.<br />

Approach without assistance from ILS or<br />

RAD shall follow a descend path not lower<br />

than ILS GP.<br />

5.3 VISUAL APPROACH RUNWAY 06/24 not<br />

permitted 2230-0630LT.<br />

VISUAL APPROACH RUNWAY 06:<br />

MNM 1500ft until established on fi nal.<br />

VISUAL APPROACH RUNWAY 24:<br />

Approach by aircraft from the south in<br />

excess of 5700kg are to be m<strong>ad</strong>e from a<br />

PSN not less than 7nm on extended RCL.<br />

Do not descend below 2000 QNH until<br />

after crossing the Firth of Forth Coastline<br />

northbound. Visual approaches from the<br />

north for RWY 24 by aircraft in excess<br />

of MTWA 5700kt are to be m<strong>ad</strong>e from a<br />

position not less than D4 on the extended<br />

centreline. Approaches to RWY 06 are<br />

to join extended RWY centreline not less<br />

than 1500ft AAL.<br />

If joining from South, maintain MNM 2000ft<br />

until passing Firth of Forth coastline.<br />

5.4 Prop aircraft under MTWA 5700kg are not<br />

to join fi nal approach to RWY 06/24 under<br />

1000ft AAL.<br />

6. NOISE ABATEMENT PROCEDURE -<br />

DEPARTURE<br />

6.1 SIDs refl ect Noise Preferential Routeings.<br />

6.2 Direct routeings etc. should only be taken<br />

up after completion of Noise Abatement<br />

Procedure.<br />

6.3 Take-off Runway 30: Climb on 302° to<br />

3000ft before setting course.<br />

7. CAT II/III OPS RUNWAY 06/24<br />

7.1 ARRIVALS: Do not report “Runway<br />

vacated” until established on Taxiway A<br />

and past the coded taxiway centreline.<br />

7.2 DEPARTURES: Do not obstruct the Fire<br />

Service access ro<strong>ad</strong> to Runway 06/24,<br />

between hold A10 and A11.<br />

8. PARKING<br />

All stands are nose-in/push-back (Except<br />

Business Aviation centre). Stand entry<br />

guidance is provided by AGNIS or<br />

Safedock Docking Guidance System.<br />

Marshalling service is provided for stands<br />

17, 19, 21, 23, 99, 101 and 209.<br />

1. VFR FLIGHTS<br />

1.1 VFR fl ights in the Control Zone will be given<br />

routeing instructions and/or altitude restrictions<br />

in order to integrate VFR fl ights with<br />

other traffi c.<br />

1.2 via the Visual Reference Points. See T1 &<br />

T3.<br />

1.3 Pilots of VFR fl ights are reminded of the<br />

requirement to remain in VMC at all times<br />

and to comply with the relevant parts of the<br />

Low Flying Rules, and must <strong>ad</strong>vise ATC if<br />

at any time they are unable to comply with<br />

the instructions issued.<br />

1.4 Helicopters: Whenever possible helicopter<br />

fl ights in the Edinburgh Control Zone will be<br />

cleared on direct routeings under VFR (or,<br />

when requested at night, on Special VFR<br />

clearance in accordance with the procedures<br />

for Special VFR fl ights).<br />

2. SPECIAL VFR CLEARANCE<br />

2.1 Clearance may be requested for Special<br />

VFR fl ight in IMC or at night within the<br />

Edinburgh Control Zone and will be given<br />

whenever the traffi c situation permits. These<br />

fl ights are subject to the general conditions<br />

laid down for Special VFR fl ights.<br />

<strong>2.2</strong> Special VFR clearance will include routeing<br />

and maximum altitude instructions and may<br />

not necessarily be confi ned to the Entry/<br />

Exit Lanes. Pilots holding a Private Pilots<br />

Licence (Aeroplanes) are reminded of the<br />

visibility requirements of Special VFR fl ights<br />

laid down in Schedule 8 of the Air Navigation<br />

(No 2) Order 1995, which may require<br />

them to request routeing via the notifi ed<br />

Entry/Exit Lanes.<br />

2.3 Pilots are reminded that they must at all<br />

times when operating on Special VFR<br />

clearance, remain clear of cloud and in<br />

sight of the surface and in fl ight conditions<br />

which will enable them to determine their<br />

fl ight path and keep clear of obstacles. Due<br />

to the nature of the terrain in the vicinity of<br />

Edinburgh Airport r<strong>ad</strong>ar vectoring will not<br />

normally be applied to aircraft operating on<br />

Special VFR clearance.<br />

2.4 Pilots are reminded that a Special VFR<br />

clearance applies only to fl ight within the<br />

CTR and does not extend to fl ight within<br />

the surrounding Airspace of the Scottish<br />

Terminal Control Area.<br />

2.5 Special VFR clearance will not normally<br />

be granted for fl ights operating VMC or for<br />

fl ights by aircraft exceeding 5700kg MTWA.<br />

3. ENTRY/EXIT LANES<br />

3.1 To permit aircraft to operate to and from<br />

Edinburgh Airport in IMC but not under IFR<br />

the following entry/exit lanes have been<br />

established for use, under the conditions<br />

stated, as follows:<br />

a. a lane 3nm wide, known as the<br />

Polmont Lane, with centre-line the M9<br />

Motorway extending from Grangemouth<br />

(near the western boundary<br />

of the Edinburgh Control Zone) eastwards,<br />

via the Polmont Roundabout,<br />

Linlithgow Loch and Philpstoun to a<br />

point at which it joins the Edinburgh<br />

Aerodrome Traffi c Zone;<br />

b. a lane 3nm wide, known as Kelty<br />

Lane, with centre-line the M90 Motorway<br />

extending from Kelty (near the<br />

northern boundary of the Edinburgh<br />

Control Zone) southwards, across the<br />

Forth Ro<strong>ad</strong> Bridge, to a point at which<br />

it joins the Edinburgh Aerodrome Traffi<br />

c Zone;<br />

c. use of the lanes is subject to clearance<br />

being obtained from ATC<br />

Edinburgh, irrespective of prevailing<br />

weather conditions. This clearance is<br />

to be obtained by non-r<strong>ad</strong>io equipped<br />

aircraft before take-off and by r<strong>ad</strong>io<br />

equipped aircraft before entering the<br />

lane;<br />

d. aircraft using the lanes must remain<br />

clear of cloud and in sight of the<br />

ground or water, not above 2000ft<br />

(Edinburgh QNH), and in fl ight visibility<br />

of not less than 3km;<br />

e. an aircraft using a lane shall keep the<br />

centre-line on its left, unless otherwise<br />

instructed by ATC for separation<br />

purposes. In these circumstances<br />

ATC will pass traffi c information to the<br />

aircraft concerned.<br />

f. pilots of aircraft are responsible for<br />

maintaining <strong>ad</strong>equate clearance from<br />

the ground or other obstacles.<br />

3.1 Additionally, to permit the effective integration<br />

of traffi c, fl ights operating in VMC and<br />

under VFR may be required by ATC to follow<br />

these routes as detailed in paragraphs<br />

1.1 to 1.4.<br />
