GENERAL<br />
1. GEOGRAPHICAL DATA<br />
1.1 The aerodrome is situated in the central<br />
coastal plain of Israel, about 8.6nm from the<br />
coast and 9.7nm Southeast of Tel Aviv. The<br />
terrain rises sharply to the East with a spot<br />
height 905ft within 4nm and another 1341ft<br />
within 8nm from the aerodrome.<br />

1.2 Adjacent aerodrome north of the city.<br />
2. WEATHER<br />
2.1 Climate is of the Mediterranean type, with<br />
the major part of the precipitation in the<br />
winter season.<br />
2.2 The warmest month of the year is August<br />
with a mean daily MAX temperature of<br />
+31.9°C. The coldest month is January with<br />
a mean daily MAX temperature of +7.5°C.<br />
Extreme high temperatures (greater than<br />
+30°C) are receded in the transitional<br />
seasons when Sharav conditions are<br />
prevailing, generally from mid March to mid<br />
June in the spring and from mid September<br />
to the end of October.<br />
2.3 The rainy season extends from October<br />
through April. In September and May scanty<br />
rainfall occasionally occurs.<br />
Thunderstorms may occur in each month of<br />
the rainy season.<br />
2.4 Visibility is generally good during the whole<br />
year.<br />
2.5 Fog occurs mainly from March through<br />
June. It usually forms before dawn, clearing<br />
by about 0600 UTC. Seldom persists for<br />
more than 3-4hr after sunrise.<br />
2.6 Dust or sandstorms are relatively rare and<br />
occur mainly in the early spring season.<br />
2.7 Wind. Summer, sea and land breezes are<br />
the dominating factors, with the West or<br />
Northwest sea breeze (about 12-19kt).<br />
At night, light Southeasterly land breeze<br />
prevail.<br />
Anticyclonic situations in winter and in the<br />
transitional seasons with light winds, mainly<br />
from an easterly direction.<br />

1. WARNING<br />

2.1 Arriving Aircraft<br />
2.1.1 If approach clearance already received:<br />
a. Set transponder to Code 7600;<br />
b. Keep Transmitting (“Blind<br />
Transmission”) on tower frequency -<br />
132.1 MHz, or on 121.5 MHz;<br />
c. If able, contact tower by Telephone<br />
(+972-3-9758111) and inform tower<br />
about you intentions:<br />
d. Proceed and complete the approach<br />
accordingly;<br />
e. Land after receiving green light from<br />
tower;<br />
f. In case of red light received from tower,<br />
or flashing RWY edge lights, perform<br />
a missed approach procedure and join<br />
the same approach again.<br />
2.1.2 If approach clearance was not received:<br />
a. Set transponder to Code 7600;<br />
b. Keep Transmitting (“Blind<br />
Transmission”) on the appropriate<br />
Frequency or on 121.5 MHz;<br />
c. If able, contact tower by Telephone<br />
(+972-3-9758111) and inform tower<br />
about you intentions;<br />
d. Proceed to BGN VOR, to reach the<br />
VOR at 6000ft;<br />
e. During day time, RWY 26 is for<br />
landing. Perform and complete one<br />
full holding pattern, then a full ILS<br />
approach or a VOR/DME approach<br />
as a second priority, unless the<br />
wind component dictates landing on<br />
RWY 08, in that case follow the night<br />
time procedure.<br />
f. During night time, RWY 08 is for<br />
landing. Perform and complete one<br />
full holding pattern, then a full ILS<br />
approach, or a VOR-Y approach as<br />
a second priority, unless the wind<br />
component dictates landing on<br />
RWY 26, in that case follow the day<br />
time procedure;<br />
g. Land after receiving green light from<br />
the tower’<br />
h. In case of red light received from the<br />
tower, or flashing RWY edge lights,<br />
perform a missed approach procedure<br />
and join the same approach again.<br />
2.2 Departing Aircraft<br />
2.2.1 If returning to land, perform the procedures<br />
listed for arriving aircraft.<br />
2.2.2 If not returning to land:<br />
a. Follow the communication failure<br />
instructions specifi ed in each chart.<br />
b. Keep Transmitting (“Blind<br />
Transmission”) on the appropriate<br />
frequency or on 121.5 MHz.<br />
c. If able, contact Ben-Gurion tower by<br />
telephone (+972-3-9758111) and<br />
inform tower about your intentions.<br />
3. ALTIMETER SETTING<br />
3.1 Within the Tel Aviv FIR, the altimeter<br />
setting procedures are as follows:<br />
3.1.1 Standard ICAO procedures over water.<br />
3.1.2 In terms of altitude according to regional<br />
QNH over land.<br />
a) Arriving traffi c change from fl ight level<br />
to altitude when leaving FL110 on<br />
descent, or when crossing coastline<br />
and fl ying over the land area,<br />
whichever earliest.<br />
b) Departing traffi c shall change from<br />
altitude to fl ight level when leaving<br />
10000ft, or when crossing coastline<br />
and fl ying over water, whichever latest.<br />
4. TAXI<br />
When towed from Terminal 1 to Terminal<br />
3 contact GND East. When towed from<br />
Terminal 3 to Terminal 1 contact GND<br />
West. In cases when GND East and West<br />
are combined the frequency to be used<br />
shall be 129.2.<br />
5. LOW VISIBILITY PROCEDURE<br />
5.1 General<br />
5.1.1 When reduced visibility prevents visual<br />
monitoring of movement area by ATC,<br />
Low Visibility Procedure (LVP) will be<br />
implemented by TWR and transmitted by<br />
ATIS;<br />
5.1.2 RWY 08 is the preferred RWY for landings<br />
and takeoffs. Second option, RWY 26 will<br />
be used for landings and takeoffs;<br />
5.1.3 Follow-me service provided to and from<br />
stands, when such service cannot be<br />
provided by ATC. This service however will<br />
not be provided when visibility is less than<br />
100m;<br />

5.1.4 During emergency in Low Visibility<br />
conditions, RWY 08 will be the preferential<br />
RWY for landings;<br />
5.1.5 During LVP, traffic delays are expected;<br />
5.1.6 Expect delays in the approach and takeoff<br />
sequence.<br />
5.2 Landing on RWY 08<br />
Vacate right on first available TWY or as<br />
instructed by ATC.<br />
5.3 Landing on RWY 26<br />
Vacate RWY via TWY W4 and hold short of<br />
RWY 12/30.<br />
5.4 Taxi to RWY 08<br />
(a) Aircraft leaving apron BE, BN, J and L<br />
taxi via TWY N,R,K, and S to holding<br />
point S.<br />
(b) Aircraft leaving Terminal 3 taxi via<br />

when clear of ground;<br />

1. NIGHT FLIGHT RESTRICTION<br />
No civil subsonic jet aircraft shall take off<br />
from Ben Gurion Airport in the period 02-<br />
05LT(W) and 02-04(S). Exceptions from the<br />
above restriction:<br />
1.1 Take-offs of aeroplanes rendering medical<br />
assistance.<br />
1.2 Israel Air Force flights.<br />
1.3 Other special flights, only by prior<br />
permission from the CAA.<br />
1.4 Take-offs until 0140LT and from 0550LT<br />
during winter season or from 0450LT during<br />
summer season - only stage 3 and stage 4<br />
are permitted.<br />
Take-offs between 0140-0200LT (actual<br />
take-off time only and not scheduled time)<br />
- only stage 4 are permitted.<br />
3. MAINTENANCE RUN-UPS<br />
Run-ups for maintenance purposes are not<br />
permitted between 2300-0500 LT.<br />
4. DEPARTURES<br />
4.1 NADP 1 applies.<br />
4.2 Take-off to MNM 950 QNH, then reduce to<br />
thrust not less than climb power. Between<br />
950-3150 QNH climb at V2+10kt (or as<br />

does not exceed 10kt on a dry runway or<br />
5kt on a wet runway.<br />
2.2 Departures<br />
Runways 26 and 08 will be the preferred<br />
runways for take-off, provided the tailwind<br />
component does not exceed 5kt.<br />

Runway 26 for take-off; times as<br />
specified for arrivals.<br />
