Lee Chong Wei: 'It's a baby boy!'

THE nation’s much-loved sportsman, Lee Chong Wei will proudly add another title to his world-class title when his wife, former shuttler Wong Mew Choo gives birth at a private hospital in Ampang, Selangor tomorrow. The good news, it will be a boy!

He was also reported to withdraw from the semi-finals of the US$1 million Axiata Cup at the Kuala Lumpur Badminton Stadium (KLBA) in Cheras, Kuala Lumour on Friday “to spend time with Mew and ensure her comfort during the labour,” says national singles chief coach Rashid Sidek.

Says Rashid, the first-time mother is expected to undergo a cesarean section and “she is doing fine.”

“Chong Wei is ecstatic about the birth of his son, so he has made the right decision to pull out from playing at the Axiata Cup to focus on his family,” adds Rashid.

He is also slated to play in the India Open from April 23 and 28 but has yet made up his mind whether to withdraw or compete.

The Mew Choo-LCW union became official in an extravagant reception held at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre in November.

Earlier this year, Mew was spotted showing off her baby bump at Putra Stadium in Bukit Jalil as she cheered Lee on in his Malaysia Open semifinal match against Danish shuttler Jan O Jorgensen.
