CAMEROUN – TEMPORARY BYPASS OF THE SANAGA RIVER SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETED

NHPC, Nachtigal’s project general contractor, announces that on Monday 26th September, the temporary bypass of the Sanaga River has been successfully completed. The construction consortium, lead by NGE and its partners BESIX and SGTM, has therefore reached a key milestone on this hydroelectric system flagship project in Cameroon.

Amazing feat on the Nachtigal hydroelectric project, with the successful completion of Cameroon’s largest river (918 km) temporary bypass: the Sanaga.

It was vital to redirect the natural course of the Sanaga River through the final structures in the upstream part of the site before the start of the main rainy season. This secured the continuity of the work on this major project, serving the sustainable development of Cameroon.
